this company is new to the industrial world and with that there are growing pains as usual with this major step in the construction industry there are gaps in policies, supervision, training, and in organization.
Stuart Olson is making a great effort to overcome these gaps and at times it is still frustrating to wait for safety initiatives that are required immediately, or having to redo something because a protocol was overlooked, as well as having the supervision on site trained for their positions such that they understand the world of safety and their individual accountability for the safety program. As I stated above they are making strides to overcome these area's. 
with all that said the hardest part of the job in the industrial sector is getting the site supervision to "buy in" and support the safety program at this level of construction. 
Job security is up in the air as onsite we don't know what is coming in the near future, and this has to be tempered with the fact that I don't have the most experience in this field of safety.
I really do enjoy the opportunity to be creative in how we deliver the safety message to the workers in the forms of posters, flyers, toolbox talks, and weekly safety meetings...

Worked independently professionally,using mature judgement,  excellent attention to detail, including the following tasks. Sales and Distribution, releasing production orders, Accounts Payables, Receivables, procurement, checking Gl codes, payroll, creation  and maintenance of master data as required,  any accounting deadlines that were due, and PP reporting upon request.   I also spent a considerable amount of time training my manager and the office staff and some shop floor employees about PP.  When I was a Functional lead I was learning every day, and I became a subject matter expert in SAP in PP.   After the project was complete I only learned from the Business Analysts when I sent a ticket to ithelp..   Enjoyed my co-workers, but management was weak.   No part of my job was difficult.   The most enjoyable part of my job was my the variety. and I enjoyed transferring my knowledge to my co-workers and my manager.

I thought Stuart Olson was a company of integrity and professionalism and that i had the potential opportunity to achieve growth and sustainability within my position in this area.  I have only been here for 3 short months to find out that the company has turned its back on our professional team of leaders here in the Southeast corner of Estevan.  Unfortunately for our team, we will all have to relocate to new jobs.  In today's economic crisis, this will not be an easy task for any of us here.  I am very disappointed in this company and their decisions made.  I only rate Management 5 stars pertaining to my manager here in Estevan.  I am here until October 8th so that we as a team can fulfill our duties finishing our current work for the amazing oil companies we are working for including Vermilion, Crescent Point, Ridgeback, TransGas, Enerplus and TEML.

Stuart Olson is a company that will take full advantage over their workers when given the chance. Terrible upper management, severe lack of communication, and unnecessary paperwork/safety practices. The pay was decent, but that was the only reason to be there. Coworkers and a few supervisors were great. But beyond that, the office people, the people who had no idea how to do our jobs were calling the shots. Hypocrisy ran rampant. People getting laid off because they “didn’t fit in” or had a minor injury. But god forbid one of the higher ups made a mistake or spread misinformation. They still get their multi-thousand dollar bonus. 

check on issues thyat senior project managers may be stugglin with . assess actions to be taken. develope on going business contacts and action plans. assess and submit RFP applications. Check on status of accounts pertaing to on going projects as well as time limes. risk management assessment.mentor junior pm's etc.

great talent ...most difficult part of job was to get junior managers to think ahead of the curve to head off possible problems instead of responding to them as they occurred.

most enjoyable..working with people who loved their jobs and had fun at it.

Great non unionized company that has a great record behind them for completing jobs within there deadlines with having a great safety record behind them. There jobs that require you to go out of town, they use a fly in fly out service which happened to be swift ordeal. Foreman's were great to work with, they allowed room for entry level employees to learn from the journeyman's rather than just shadowing them around the job site which allowed more than one employee to get into a apprenticeship program. At the end of the day the company is great to work for, just take my word for it though, check it out for yourself.

Typical day was good. Same issues as most companies…not the right tools, miscommunication from top down.. however the supervisors did their best to make sure the workers could do the work and did all they could to help. 
Pay was below average so that was not fun.
Were told wrong start time at onboarding/hiring also wasn’t told that there was going to be night shifts involved when recruitment team contacted workers so that was an unfortunate and upsetting shock for many when they got to work… some weren’t even told about the night shifts until the end of the first hitch in! Supervisors did their best to accommodate it seemed. Still left a bad impression.

We start the day with a stretching bootcamp.
Meeting with the foreman for things to do today.
Most of the time we work 2 guys together.
Everyday is learning day when dealing with other trades but can be frustrating too. Sometime, a lack a professionalism from them.
We can be asked to do anything, from sweeping a area to br ready for the next step, to paint walls or floors, set formworks, layout, temporary hoarding, drywall mud, finishing work, etc.
Worst part of the job is when we have to work in a building already open to public. Publics and employees encounter.
At the end of the day, review the works whose been done through the day.

Several divisions run out of this building. In fighting between these divisions - each one out for themselves. 
Department atmosphere is catty at best. Lots of whispering very unwelcoming to newcomers. Brown nosing at it's finest - a coworker will ask if you need help but only when the boss is listening. Boss is oblivious to what's going on around them and relies on brown noser to supply information. No training besides watching someone else do it - then attempt on your own. No room for advancement. Salary is entry level. They have a bonus system but lower level employees will rarely see it.

I work 6-5 on the jobsite. Planning and reviewing the work of the project. I go through safety, budgets, and QAQC. I have been given room to grow and learn on my own through my experience at Stuart Olson. I haven enjoyed my time here but it is my site team that makes the difference. The small appreciations along the way go a mile. The most enjoyable part of my job is when a plan goes together and we see production. Its the people and the planning that makes it worth is. If the client is happy then I am happy. The people may be the best but can also be the hardest . We are all different trying to deliver a project together.
