Just like someone mentioned in another post, you have no chance of ever advancing with this company unless you have relatives in high places. In other words, nepotism exists at TBayTel. They do not treat their employees fair especially when it comes to their hiring practices as they favor certain people (usually the ones who are phony and kiss butt) or if you are related to someone in Management. TBayTel used to be a very good place to work many years ago until the H/R department, arrogant managers who lack people skills, rude employees who think they own the world came along and ruined it. Some of the employees are hard to work with due to their bad attitudes. All they care about is making money as they are never satisfied with their generous wages. They always work countless overtime and complain. AVOID as TBayTel is a very toxic work environment.

As mentioned in another review, it is nearly impossible to move up in the company.  They value certifications and education over all else, and do not understand the value of experience.  The company has a favoritism issue as many times a less qualified person who has the right last name or the right friends will be loopholed into a position that they are not as qualified for as other applicants who have been denied.  Also due to the union environment many of the incumbent staff have become quite accustomed to doing the absolute bare minimum of work, much to the chagrin of those trying to move upwards within the company.

It used to be a great place to work, but less so lately. It's tough to advance to management and beyond.  Consolidating jobs and roles has resulted in roles not being back-filled.  This creates the unintended consequence of everybody feeling they need to make a name for themselves, which makes it a difficult and frustrating workplace.  

Pay used to be ok, but after several years of high inflation and pay increases not matching, it lags behind.  

There are so many layers of approval, partially for the aforementioned reason, that it's very difficult to get anything done collaboratively.  

On the plus side, there are often many opportunities in the entry level positions, so getting in shouldn't be too difficult, from there you can determine if it's a job, or a career.

The work environment is not fun or a great place to work. I suspect the HR department is posting the great place to work, fun exciting, posts to counteract the reality of the work environment. The work environment is full of self driven psychopaths in management postions promoted due to the political or personal connections with senior management. 
They play this serade of respect, inclusion and employee well being which sadly is window dressing to hide sadistic behaviour within. Ego and overinflated  self importance are rampant in upper management.
Looking for a good job, where you are valued, respected and have opportunity , look elsewhere because tbaytel is not the place. 

The Tbaytel store is a good place to work, especially for students or those looking to start a career in telecom. They pay a fair wage, and offer decent hours. The days are busy, dealing with customers and other various duties. Management is fair and easy to get along with. Co-workers are great, and make work fun. Loved working for a local company that is invested in their community; and enjoyed interacting with nice customers.

Being a union environment tends to make the career path rather static and tends to make people not to bother too much with striving for excellence because it will not yield any additional benefit.  Promotion is based on seniority and education and certifications, rather than experience.  I think we pass over really good people because of this.

Typical day is meeting customer needs and expectations.
I've learned everyday is a new day, environment constantly changes.
Management is great.
Difficult customers would be the hardest part to the day.
Making someone very happy would be the most enjoyable part of the job.

The corporate environment made it very challenging to get anything done. Management was difficult to deal with, the red tape and policies added unnecessary time and headaches. The union environment had a very us (union) vs them (management) feeling to it.

I loved working at Tbaytel.  Most people were great.  There was just some politics at the end that pushed me to leave.  Other than that experience, it was a great place to work.

If you have the right education this company is great to work for. Lots of chances to move up. Lots of different jobs to pick from. They're local oriented and try to do good for the city.
