HR is an absolute nightmare to work with. They are not understanding, kind or compassionate. HR professionals are clearly incredibly homophobic and racist. They will actively work against you in any way possible even if you are trying to reach a resolution peacefully. If there are vacant full time positions, HR will not allow you to take it on in a long term capacity if you are in a temporary position (which can mean you work 1 day a week when there are schools with absolutely no secretaries). Principals don’t understand how to run schools and often this leads to overworking the secretary and berating/belittling them as well. There is no support offered by anyone - HR or school level. The union will take care of anyone’s wrong doings which means you work with a lot of lazy people with zero work ethic. You are not paid enough for the amount you work and the hours spent at your desk - you will miss most of your breaks with no overtime paid or time made up for it. Principals come to expect you to miss lunches/breaks so they can leave the office when they please. Most principals and vice principals have attitude problems unless you’re working in a high school. You will likely work for years as a supply with inconsistent schedules until you have enough nepotism under your belt to be pushed into a long term/permanent position that should have been awarded to someone with real seniority. It’s a joke, don’t work for the Catholic board. The TDSB or peel region school boards are much better to work for. 

There are no opportunity's to move up into management or any higher-up positions in the board because you either need to be family or close friends with the big cheeses. 

The job is not terrible the pay isn't the best but it isn't the worst either.

There are a lot of issue's working as a caretaker, its a dog eat dog world there's no real team players the first thing i was told when I started was to not trust anyone at all because everyone tattles on each other to supervision, not having proper equipment is also a common issue unless you work in a high school's always have brand new stuff, but high schools are cleaner so don't really need them as much as elementary's but for whatever reason they don't send them much of anything. 

The job overall is okay to get you on your feet until you can find something better.

also as an occasional caretaker you work full time hours but don't get any benefits, sick days, vacation days, don't get paid for holidays either your expected to work Monday to Friday and to answer your phone if you don't management gets angry at you but its okay for them not to call you for two weeks and give you no hours at all but god forbid you take a sick day.

-a typical day at work involves physical classroom setup, large attendance sheets but low attendance, low-quality supplies and tech. equipment, low staff support from other instructors etc. Very few, if any breaks, no parking guaranteed, and sometimes feel physically threatened. No real guidance in the lesson format. Holidays are strongly discouraged despite a 7-page sub-teacher list.
-I learned that they do not hire permanent Instructors anymore so they don't have to provide benefits. Being on career-building projects requires a Master's Degree, even though they don't want to pay extra for the education. Some facilitators are great, and some are horrible. All staff are competitive, and in self-preservation mode, not friendly. 

A typical day at work is different everyday , working in different school each day. It can be challenging but fulfilling. I learnt a lot of  social skills , talking to different people and manage kids behaviour, which could be very bad and sometimes very rewarding in some ways.
I have dealt with many management, and I feel that management works with the establishment objectives and visions, which is always different from each other.
Co-workers, sometimes have no idea of who you are but you have conditioned your mind to work well with all regardless. Its fun meeting new people at work.
The hardest part of the work is when situation presents itself and you cannot act but to carryon as if its not part of the job description. 
The most enjoyable ^part of the job it the fact that the times is workable for me and my kids. When my kids are in school, am at work but when they at home , am at home as well. So its good for me.

I meet lots of good persons in the team. They are nice and skillful.
Anyone can enjoy the free life there. Boss gives you task and deadline. You can handle How-to.
First days, I got some tasks of crystal report according to the student information system. They cant believe that as a newb, I can quickly learn and finish it all by myself.
So boss want me try more, giving me a chance of developing new subsystem named PD Days. It never happened before.
When a project comes, you have to discuss with boss or headmaster again and again to collect their true needs. It gives me a great experience in software architecture design and Algorithm Improvement.Then learn the father system Trillium and its interface, build C# version. In the process, learn and applied infrigistic, Javascript. Finally translate it into VB with teammates.
Frankly, working independently and in team would be a fantastic time there.

A typical day begins with greeting twenty two Grade One students, and ensuring that they are settling into the morning routines and are prepared for learning.  The teaching begins shortly thereafter, and the classroom becomes a busy and exciting place of learning.  I have been teaching for many years but am still learning on so many levels.  The students are curious, inquisitive, genuine and honest, and I consider it a privilege to be a part of their educational journey.

Teaching has been a sheer joy for me.  The most enjoyable part of my job is actually being with the students and trying to get them to be "the best they can be".  I also enjoy the communication and positive interactions with the parents.  I am fortunate that I  have very positive parent relationships, and that the parents are supportive of the work I do in the classroom.

The job itself is quite simple and not difficult at all. Co-workers are fine but don't believe what they tell you during the interview process/orientation about what kind of schedule you should expect. Expect to work 20 or so hours a week for many months. They'll keep promoting that you'll get full time hours or close to it but that's not true. Very long and difficult process to get full time employment at this board. If you're young and have no expenses I can see the appeal but for anyone over 25 it's simply not sustainable. No benefits as you start either and 8 days off (including medical issues) and you're gone. Honestly, I regret accepting my offer of employment and would've rather made less and gotten a full time job. 

This job consisted of creating a group presentation with peers to persuade incoming elementary school students to attend St. Joseph's College School as well as to promote the schools amazing French Department. As a grade 12 student, I had been part of the Catholic High School program for four years. Throughout my years in high school, I have been given the opportunity to represent the French Department four times. The best part of this experience was creating a presentation based on the experiences of both me and my peers and being given the opportunity to share my positive experience with others. The most difficult part was overcoming the language barrier and attempting to speak and maintain the French language throughout the course of the presentation

Work day is routine and predictable. As a supply teacher, you get the bad end of the stick. No class is your class. If the homeroom teacher has a “well trained” class with respect and rules - you’ll have a nice day. If not, your day will be horrible. 

Consider that you have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree and teacher training (basically equivalent to a Master’s) and someone in the food service industry gets paid more than you. 

Inflation is up 30% yet salaries have gone up 1% at best. Make it make sense. 

You can’t afford ANYTHING with a supply teacher salary unless you live at home and your parents pay for all bills and groceries. 

INCREASE SALARIES AND MAKE TORONTO AFFORDABLE AGAIN. GET WITH THE TIMES INSTEAD OF PUTTING GREED INTO THE HANDS OF THE PPL AT THE TOP (WHO DO NOTHING). Thanks.

My typical day at work consist of cleaning every classroom, staff room, washrooms and offices in tip top shape. I've learned to develop many cleaning techniques to insure every room is spotless and clean. I get along very well with management if i have a problem they are always there to help me out. The work place culture is very exciting meeting teachers and interacting with kids say hi. The hardest part of my job i'd have to say is trying my best to stay on top of making sure all rooms are clean and ready for the next day. The most enjoyable part of my job is cleaning and making teachers smile knowing that they have a clean room to teach in.
