TCS is a VERY large corporation. This causes a varied experience across the entire company.

Salary and benefits for "freshers" appear to be good, better than other staffing companies in the same space so under the right circumstances this could be a good start for a new graduate.

One universally negative thing about TCS is management. Middle management is very poor and do not manage employees effectively in order to provide the best work possible.

Essentially, almost every manager appears to simply be interested in offloading their tasks on to employees. For example, on paper, one person could be listed as an "Application Developer" BUT they actually work on onboarding and offboarding new or leaving employees. All because management does not wish to do so themselves.

Almost everything from Giving tasks, assigning resources, having meetings and explaining concepts to new employees etc. That you would expect a manager to do. Is done by regular employees. Every contract has a handful if VERY GOOD employees who devastate a project when they leave for better companies. Brain drain.

ILP Training is also very poor. It is a waste of resources for what you learn and the management responsible for that program are essentially making free money. Kudos to them.

This company is primarily interested in the relationship between themselves and the companies that offer them contracts. This is the only valued thing. Every now and again some high level members of management may inquire as to the thoughts and feelings of employees but many employees, either fearful of "rocking the boat" are not honest. If you want employees to be honest perhaps offer a whistleblower type of contact. A new employee wont tell you all the wrong and in some cases ILLEGAL/SECURITY issues for fear of their job.

Overall, if you are a recent graduate. And have literally NO OTHER OFFERS from non-staffing companies. Perhaps take the job. But leave after 1-2 years. This is not a company to stay at long term. 

They exhibit a lack of mutual respect, with a micromanagement approach and unprofessional behavior. In my experience, there was no consideration for personal circumstances, including commitments to family after hours. I was expected to work from 7 am to 7 pm, while only being compensated for 8 hours. The working environment resembled an offshore setup, with unrealistic expectations. Although I was hired as an architect, I was often tasked with administrative duties, while the business analyst essentially directed the project. Despite my requests for collaborative meetings with team members or external experts like Microsoft to facilitate my work, I was restricted from engaging outside the project team. The project manager was particularly challenging, showing poor leadership skills and prioritizing client appeasement at the expense of team members, leading to blame-shifting and finger-pointing, which are prevalent practices at TCS. I would not recommend this workplace to anyone; it lacks dignity, respect, and a conducive work environment. It was the most difficult professional experience of my career.

I joined this company in 2006 as a fresher. It was my dream company then and was really happy to be a part of TCS. As years passed by, I noticed that, the company has no ethics or work culture. Most of the managers are pathetic. Have no managerial skills. They just cannot stand the sight of an associate going home after 8 or 9 hours of work. If an associate goes home early, then that would be reason for poor rating. I came to Canada last year. Had a very bad experience with managers asking us to work in the evenings and night and all weekends. They over commit to clients and make us work like donkeys. ‘Overtime pay’ is a big No No for this company. You work 8 hours or 20 hours, you will be paid the same. I decided to quit the job due to the intolerable working conditions. There they come up with a rule. If you want to quit job at onsite, you have to serve 3 months notice. After serving 3 months, I got out of that hell and I feel so relieved now. They cheat a lot with settlements as well. Don’t pay for your Onsite Vacation Leaves. If asked, they give some stupid answers. My suggestions to all those looking for a job change is ’Think twice before joining this company. Don’t make your life hell’.    

I enjoyed my position and enjoyed the client I was hired to work for however I found that there was a lack of communication from site management (no HR person readily available to speak with).  I was a visible minority within the TCS talent pool and did not feel part of the group.  I had no onboarding with TCS so was left floundering trying to get myself acquainted with TCS processes, where to find documentation ect and the TCS employee webmail and website is poorly designed considering TCS is a IT company.  Hours put into the client was 10 hours a day and then still expected to keep up with mandatory online trainings for TCS outside of client billable hours - no work life balance.  Compensation was good as were benefits.   I understand that some employees get real onboarding and they may ultimately have a better experience.  My first day with TCS was also my first day with the client.

If the communication, inclusion and technology within TCS get better I'd be happy to return.

TCS provided me the opportunity to work for Fortune 500 companies both onshore and offshore. As a Program Manager, I interacted with the Client Directors and Senior Managers to understand their business needs and worked with the TCS global development team and Centre of Excellence teams to transform Client's business needs into IS solutions and  effectively managed a strategic Program within its defined scope, budget, schedule and quality. 

I had the opportunity to closely observe the leadership and management styles of the Customer as well as TCS which helped me to hone my management skills and climb up the ladder quickly. I also had a very supportive management who mentored and motivated me to succeed in my role. Last but not the least, my co-workers provided me the required technical, functional and emotional support to successfully deliver projects / program with aggressive schedules and complex requirements.

Overall rating: 1 stars out of 5. Would be zero, but new Canadian HR management is improving situation.

Salary/benefits: 1 star out of 5. Reclaimed all employees two week salary, which they didn't repay. Salary range was okay but not great.

Management: 0 stars out of 5. India management very bad, treat employees like slaves. Former manager died of heart attack because of over work. Never met manager face to face, in my 2 year tenure. As he was always in an airport.

Culture/Values: 4 stars out of 5.

Job Security/Advancement: 2 stars out of 5. Former HR Canadian training consisted of three new employees standing around an HR rep, answering questions for 15 minutes. US training was more extensive. New HR is improving situation. Poor rating is based on US HR and old Canadian HR.

Work/Life Balance: Poor (0 star out of 5). Engagement expectation was that you lived on the job. All your time was their time.

Canadian co-workers were friendly. Newer Canadian HR was helpful. US HR was a disaster.

Had a lot of dreams when joining this company since it is one of tech leaders in the world.I was hired to work at the client's site 100% of the time and never worked at TCS's office.Most of the TCS people had a long history with TCS and working with TCS ever since they passed out from college.They have this seniority superiority thingy and constantly harassing the juniors and the new recruits.And they try to avoid hiring local resources and bring people from offshore, so that they can threaten these offshore resources with visa extensions and renewals unless you cooperate with them.When it comes to work and Client interaction, it was never a problem.Forget about transparency related to performance appraisal in this company as it is purely based on seniority and the rapport that you establish with seniors like saluting them, serving them off hours and doing personal favours.Sometimes I feel TCS is more like a family-run enterprise.

There have been lot to do, but very meager take home. Shows a lots of benefits but all in the rule book. Lots of processes, that never makes life easy for work or otherwise, be it any kind of employee relationship you have.

Expected to have a good learning and growth in life the day, I joined but all my dreams are washed away. Now am living for the day, I will have scope to move to a new opportunity and close off with my responsibilities here.

The middle management is very worse ever experienced, I never thought a organization so vast and wide spread could have such cheap and so much dirty politics inside. Employees are all stressed up and those who can learn in-around this ways of work, can succeed others look for greener grasses, once everything flows above tolerance limits.

This company is full of false promises. They will hire you as a "developer" and put you in whatever role they need filled at that moment. And usually these roles have zero development involved so you are completely wasting your time as far as experience goes.
They will continually promise to move you to a dev position as soon as it becomes available (but it never will). They will refuse to release you from your current project if you are unsatisfied with your role or work environment. Basically you are stuck doing whatever useless role they want you to do indefinitely. The only escape is quitting.
I wasted a year of my life working for this company and have nothing to show for it. Find a company that cares about what their employees want, not just their clients
