It's an okay side job until you realize that while they charge an auto gratuity on all bookings they don't actually give that money to their staff. If you can find a similar position at literally any other convention centre in Saskatoon, take that over TCU, you'll easily make at least $3 more per hour if not more. They also charge $2 to eat the food to "help offset the cost of the food" but they throw the food out anyway, and even if they didn't they make more than enough money to axe the $2 meal deduction.

Typical day at work would be to make sure your assigned room has everything that was ordered by the client. 
 
What I learned is that the little things that were missed or added made a major different on how the room was managed, and how happy the clients were the service.

The co-workers with banquet staff were all helpful and understanding.

Hardest part of job was would have to be the physical demands.

The enjoyable part was after big events the audience would clap to thank for the service.

The hours were not awful and daytime

The managers and directors do not know how to do their employees jobs. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Poor, especially culture.  No staff appreciation nights or awards go out despite having 2 HR reps. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
9-4, 5-6 days a week. Heavy lifting, lots of movement and lots of paperwork

Work tasks are pretty straight forward and can be done with bare minimum training. Manager do not do a good job of communicating the things that needs to be done. We are asked to do things at higher pace and you rarely get breaks. Not sure if that’s even legal. Managers have been there for ages however their conflict resolution and communication skills are very novice. Only bar tenders are kind enough to share their own tips with you. They do not share event gratuity. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Accounts payable, month end transaction, closing entry.

Accounts payable is my successful part

fully friendly and professional work environment,

nothing was typical there everything good to work

what i enjoyed the most was able to met alot of famous people and got to give my name to alot of big business'scompanys.
my co-workers were great and we always worked as a team
the hardest part of the job was there was no breaks.
i did not aggreee with the managment the supervisor was rude and made her self look good with the boss .. she was very unprofessional

A typical day at TUC place was going there on time,also communicating and interacting with clientes and employee, as i would set-up, servering food,drinks,and taking down. As i think about it,finding the job very enjoyable, Thank You!

Has really flexible hours and a great staff that makes me look forward to coming to work. Management is very understanding and shifts are very flexible and easy to trade or give away.

The atmosphere of this venue is absolutely amazing. Friendly and out-going staff/coworkers. Food and drinks are always good.  I really do love all the special events, shows, etc. that TCU Place hosts. Great location. 

Lots of cleaning and physical labor. Quiet shifts where you can get lots done and fast paced shifts that make the day fly by. Over all not a terrible place to work if you are okay working with a team and getting things done by yourself too.
