You might have a great team to work but advancement is a serious issue in this company. It is all about who you know and not what you know. As per the bank's policy you can only advance 2 levels at a time meaning if you like a role that is level 7 and you are at level 3 forget getting it. You will have to get a level 5/6 job first then spend 2 years there and then you will be eligible to apply for level 7 position. 

Most of the times managers have preferred candidates for the role they are posting so after a while it is meaningless to even apply for such positions. 

Some good benefits with chequing account and Credit Card rates and fees but all other products like mortgages, loans, car loans it is ridiculous that they offer only 0.05%-0.5%(mortgage not included) discount on their customer rates. 

It might be a great place to get some experience but advancement is only offered to a chosen few.

When working for such a large company, you expect growth within the office.  This position was a contract position, and with no steadiness in the funding department, they requested a few of us to go into Cash management.  This was an intense department, and more enjoyable, but still not the nicest management.  There was no security with this job and no one was hired to work full time.  There were no benefits and the job culture was depressing.

As well, since we were reviewing applications for auto finance, if we made even one error, an email would be sent out to the entire floor with the error made and your name being shamed.  It so embarrassing.

Lastly, because we were all on contract, they would make us feel completely excluded as a TD employee, including Team Meetings or any sort of exciting thing the office was holding.  At times, some of us would have to ask if we were allowed to take part in certain events.... It was a sad environment.  I would never go back here.

My comments reflect TD Auto Finance specifically, they do not apply to other areas of the bank.

The staff and management are great and will always help when asked. It's great if you like to be left alone to do your work - if you're performing, you will be largely left to do your job without interference, it's a great place for independent workers. If you like a lot of coaching and feedback, you will not receive it here unless you ask for it.

Work volumes are extremely seasonal, in additional to increased volumes at month end. The fall and winter are extremely slow while summer is extremely busy, so you need to be adaptable to the shifts. If you are hired on contract or by agency in the summer it is best to expect you will not be re-hired for the fall. They do keep some people on but staffing levels are reduced in the off season.

If you are hired on, benefits are great with medical, dental, group RRSP, pension and company share options.

A day at work consists of a busy schedule of inbound and outbound calls. Collect on returned payments and/or send letters to customers. I learned to be organized and manage a busy schedule and maintain all my requirements for my accounts. Help the department positively in collections and be pro-active on hitting office target. Management has changed from time to time as well as names and owners of the company. My co-workers strive for the same goals and I have learned to be a team player and work with with others to obtain target to receive bonus. Hardest part of job is keeping up with policies and procedures, I have learned to review and read policies as they change to make this an easier task. The most enjoyable part of my job is helping customer's find a solution to their debt and hearing their relief and appreciation.

A great work environment where a typical day would be attending to support calls from Area Managers who work from home using company laptops for the first part of the morning. 

Setup systems for new hires or return to work from leave for other employees. 

Ensure that the server backup tapes are changed after the overnight backup.

Attend to desktop system malfunctions as soon as possible to limit production downtime for employees to a minimum.
 
Receive new systems deliveries, store in storage and update company hardware inventory.

Help Network specialists in Toronto with troubleshooting of malfunctioning server issues.

I was hired through an agency in which I became a full-time employee. Several changes in management when I worked as a Customer Account Specialist. It's a corporate company who only cares about results and not their employees unless you caress their ego. There are few and far between legitimate honest employees and co-workers. People should be aware about working in this place in terms of the work environment as it can get very toxic and a lot of stress can be had with the work at hand. Other co-workers can and will throw you under the bus to make themselves look good. My advice to whomever is this job currently or applying is to just do your job and do what the things that make you happy outside of work. Never be too social as it is a double-edged sword. The only thing that's good about the job are the benefits.

The environment is inclusive and people have pride in their work and their departments which is contagious and a breath of fresh air but the Team Managers don’t people manage. They’re there for projects and there isn’t transparency on whether or not those projects are related to your department. Team Leads and Resource Officers who do the real people managing don’t get enough credit. Growth is absolutely possible even without networking as long as you build a reliable brand for yourself, I just wouldn’t recommend climbing the ladder to become management. Other than that, hard work actually does pay off in TD Auto Finance. 

Over the 8 years working at TD Auto Finance the experience was mixed.  Several co workers were fabulous to work with and there is lots of support. At times there is a push and pull environment where they try to make it a good working environment however often we get pushed in overtime and get the numbers.  Often the pressure is rewarded but has become less over the last couple years.  It was a place of job security however in the last year there are red flags where departments are being cut or transferred to the head office in Toronto.

Reviewed and processed large volumes of Auto Funding Deals (approximately sixty deals managed per day) using Fiserv and Laser Fish Funding Systems and Software
Booked the funding deals from auto dealerships in cross Canada on behalf of the customer’s (vehicle buyers)
Matched funding packages to clients based on specific criteria
Worked with credit analysts and supervisors to acquire approvals for client.
Determined the status of bank accounts based on user activity, which was determined through Host on Demand Banking System Software

 Organizing and archiving confidential customer information on Laserfiche. Updating important memos on Fiserv to facilitate the funding process
 Prompt response to incoming faxes within a 15 minute SLA
 Self-taught keysys, proficiency with Laserfiche and Fiserv for day-to-day job accountabilities.
 Consistently demonstrated initiative to learn from and provide assistance for the non-prime team.
