I liked my time at Upper Room overall.
It is always a privilege to be hired anywhere.. especially during covid. So i am thankful for the opportunity first and foremost.

working at upper room taught me a lot: including better organizational skills, better communication, and assertion in the business world. 

i was able to incorporate improvements in my work, as well as have a positive influence on others, i was able to form good relationships. most importantly i’m very giddy and was able to be myself at work, and share experiences and laughter with my colleges. 

when i needed to take time off for a major life event, i was able to take a month off- which was so accommodated for me- many places would not be able to do this and i could tell my manager genuinely cared about my health and did not just see me as an employee.

i really started getting close to management and found that they were supportive and that if i continued in the company we’d grow to be even closer. 

I’d work for Upper Room again in a heartbeat. 

I worked at the upper room for approx 7 months. The owners don’t know what management is up to and it’s pretty sad! I spent months working there being told to do things that weren’t in my job description and when it came down to it I was punished for doing what was asked of me. I was written up multiple times in order to to “pass the blame” from management. When I was hired I was told I would have health benefits and not work weekends or evenings. Guess what.. I ended up working evenings and weekends and those benefits never came. 

While I was there I was asked to fire an employee who was at the same level as me, lie about financing and applications, asked to have conversations with customers I had no business having because management didn’t speak their language.

Worst job I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few pretty bad ones! 

STAY AWAY FROM THE UPPER ROOM FOR YOUR OWN SANITY!

I worked here for over 3 years and had my ups and downs within the company. As a young employee, there was not much room for growth and management even admitted to my young age hindering my ability to move up within the company despite being a top-performer. I enjoyed the coworkers I interacted with on a daily basis such as the sales team, customer service etc but management was difficult to get along with at times. I was often overworked and rarely offered help when expressing my struggles. Since my employment ending in 2022, management has changed therefore I cannot speak to the integrity and values of Upper Room's current management team. I left my position on good terms and wish nothing but success to Upper Room Home Furnishings but feel feedback is valuable for any company constantly striving for overall success! 

A typical day at work would be to make sure everything is set for the sales associates team.  I make sure they have enough supplies on the sales floor (invoice paper, moneris receipt paper, folders).  As well as making sure that all customer's furniture who has arrived at our warehouse has been informed.  We are given a daily report with a list of customer's items that has arrived, if they answer we take payment over the phone and book their delivery.  If there is no answer we leave a message and ask them to call back when they have the chance.  I also file all the sales that have gone through throughout the weeks, as well as make sure it is all in numerical order.  I have learned to work in a fast pace environment on the phone and computer, rather than on the floor in a retail environment.

One of the most beautiful workplace to work in the city. The industry is booming and being in the right place helps a lot. The client loves the services provided by Upper Room and that makes our work easy.
Management was there to support and help at all times. 
Company is good at adopting new technologies which boosts confidence as an employee of working with a company having great vision.
A place where you have enough opportunities to grow and offers you work environment which is transparent with amazing work-life balance.
A great organization to work for.

One of the things I love most is that this company understands life comes first, and that work is an important part of life but not necessarily the most important for most people. When I needed time they work with me to accommodate and I can tell they work hard to continuously improve to make this a place you enjoy going in to work and help invest in a happy atmosphere both in my work and me personally! I feel comfortable having open communication with generally everyone here including my manager.

This is a awful place to work, they don't care and people are garbage to them to just be thrown away. dont think about being sick you wont get any kind of understandin they will fire you when you get back and keep using the same excuces about why. people are afraid to ask questions or talk about problems because they will just let you go if they dont like what you say. dont even apply here you will regret it. the upper managers are a click and you cant tell one of them something without them telling everyone else, its too toxic.

management made it difficult to service the clients due to ongoing  delivery and pricing issues. Delays in servicing existing clients and fulfilling orders exacerbated these situations. Communication between employees and management  was lacking which lead to a non supportive attitude. Favoritism in the  workplace existed.

Upper Room is a great place to work and I really miss the fun environment. If you work hard and are proactive, you can do very well. It can be tough if you aren’t focussed, but if you are it can be very prosperous. Management is very supportive and treats you with respect. If it wasn’t necessary for me to leave the job, I would happily still be there. 

As a customer service representative, I dealt with a lot of warranty claims and concerns with clients and vendors/manufacturers that required solutions and problem solving. The staff around are very helpful and you can easily access many resources to help with completing the job in an efficient and professional way
