The atmosphere is centered around the safety of Toronto citizens and effective management of ensuring that all commercially run properties and residences are up to par with the regulations of the Ontario Fire Code within the GTA. I've learned from great example that, through team work and focusing on long term goals, having success and making a positive change externally is possible. Employee culture is very tightly knitted and has personal, family oriented investments. High volumes and hierarchical process cause delays in productivity, however, the integral implications with the nature of work gives much fulfillment and  satisfaction.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Being able to give back to the community and working with other firefighters that are passionate about the job!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
A tragic fatality that may have been avoidable to carelessness or violence.

Amazing when you have a great crew that you can count on 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Preparing and responding to the needs of the community

My job was to Inspect/diagnose and repair SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) and other personal safety equipment used by Fire personnel. The hours were 9.5 hours a day, four days a week with a long weekend. The Position was CO-OP meaning work experience without pay.

I would need to write a book to describe this career, the people I worked with and served and the things I witnessed and duties I performed.Easily the best 35 years of my life and a career I would recommend to anyone.

This job was a dream to have as a student! Teaches you valuable transferable skills in a low-stress work setting. Will always remember the TFS family.

Excellent staff and supervisors. flexible hours, always something new to learn. Lots of various tasks to complete and always working with new people that you can learn from.

There is no job like the fire service. The friends you make and the experiences you have are truly amazing. The journey to launch this career is long and arduous but well worth it.
