My tenure at Torstar (Star Metroland Media) provided an exciting opportunity to be a part of the most historic transformation in the company's history. 

As a proud member of the senior management team, I was able to lead an extremely capable and committed compliment of individuals through this transformation.

The corporate culture was one of cultivating and rewarding creative thinking along with continually assembling, supporting and building multiple business properties into one cohesive and focused unit.

The experience was a true education in people and their ability to change, adapt and prove their agility throughout multiple phases of a corporate transformation.

It was a pleasure to serve in my role.

Ever worked at a place where there are more managers than sales reps? That's Torstar. They lie to their clients and shareholders. There's no support for the after-sale problems (mainly in the fact that they don't deliver the newspapers or flyers in 50% of the places they tell their clients that they do). And don't ever speak your mind, or suggest a new way of doing things - because that's a certain way to get an offer to relocate to a different department (that pays much less) or fired. One of the worst jobs I ever had, glad I left when I did - because apparently, it got far worse after Aug 2018.

The office is close to home. My work hours are flexible. My manager clearly articulates goals project time lines. My manager allows his team members to work independently, and doesn't interfere / doesn't look over your shoulder, as long as the work gets done, on time, and if there are no complaints.

torstar is dedicated to progressiveness and they practise that in the content published as well as how they deal with employees. ive always felt supported and like management genuinely cared about my well-being and that i do well in my roles, and i appreciate the guidance and trust 

Working there was one of my best experiences..great people and pay, fair time off, lots of support locally.   Only problems was working in different time zone with Toronto, but other than that..

Torstar is in a transformation journey that is redefining its culture, people and ultimately its core business as it moves from print to digital.  There is a lot of opportunity to redefine the industry but it suffers from an executive team that over-manages and struggles to execute on strategy.

Great place for product managers. Lots of interesting projects to work and a great team. Agile is followed really well here and you get on work on products that impact a huge audience base

Torstar is a news paper web print shop that acquired the service Bureau I was working with back in 1995 in order to have digital pre press 
I started my company as a print broker there after

Struggling to navigate in the ever changing world of Media.  Unfocused plan with many about-turns and dead ends.  Much time wasted on projects that ultimately are not implemented correctly.

This was a fantastic place to work. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for one on one guidance and expertise in the legal world - especially for newcomers.
