This was one of the better places I have worked at as a designer. The environment was positive and upbeat, things hunker down when big events or projects happen but that's expected, I loved working with the TSN editorial staff and the other designers at Bell Media Creative Agency. I always found myself wanting to do more, such as the event based designs for the TSN.ca site. The deadline based material definitely creates a sense of urgency which I like quite a bit. Most material had enough lead time but it was manageable. All materials required authorization from the Creative Agency which was fine and revisions and feedback were the norm.

All workplaces have their moments of ups and downs and the down for me wasn't being able to renew. Though this was my 2nd time at the location. First time was during the London 2012 Olympics through Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium.

Interning at TSN was an amazing experience.  A typical day would start with me entering the Sportscentre newsroom and checking in with the Producer to see if there was anything I could do immediately.  If not, I would assist others in the newsroom in any way possible.  Some days I would get a special assignment that I could start on right away.  Other days I would get one after being there for a few hours, some days I didn't get an assignment and would help others.  During the Olympics there were so many events so I was kept very busy during those 18 days.

As a "part timer" or "freelancer" you aren't cared for, your schedule is chaos, and you're never rewarded for going above and beyond. The skill of your job doesn't equal advancement, your worth is based on how willing you are to cancel on your life and come in on short notice or pick up shifts. Be ready to ruin friendships, relationships and anger family if you want to make it here. The pay is good but unless you're friends with someone from management you won't advance. It's strictly about who you know not how skilled you are.

The people were great but the unpaid aspect made it hard to balance school and another job. Would do it again if I was able to. Most days, I would come in and clip up highlights from the night before and then throughout the show, I would do the same with the interviews so they could be replayed by other shows.

You work in sports which is great, but very negative environment that is focused on quantity over quality.

Difficulty in advancement and horrific internal communication.

First NATIONAL TV job and am forever great full for the opportunity to work in both Calgary AB and as an Anchor in Toronto. This is where I learned how to write sports for TV. It was my first opportunity covering The NHL on a daily basis.

good work for sports fans, tough hours but the work is fun in creating highlight packs and reporting on sports. Tight and stressful meeting deadlines.

Harsh Environment.  A few kind people; many who aren't.  Great place to toughen up, but not a great place to move up.  

Not much of a hockey fan, so perhaps that is the reason for my sediments.

no comment...it was a great place to work and thats all I will say, it is what you make it...its great if you like sports and you must be able to get along

I have tried to change it many times but this site doesn't have the right TSN. The TSN I worked at was The Sports Network, which was a very nice experience.
