Was deeply disappointed in this organization. First off, I was interviewed by TWO staffing specialists for a TEMPORARY, CASUAL support staff position. One was there to ask questions in a weird, skeptical manner and the other was just watching each single movement and facial expression!! Interview was beyond uncomfortable and I was given weird looks and stupid stares which made me 100% sure I wasn't treated fairly. London schools are full of troubled students and rude staff specially the ones located on east/ south of the city. You can choose not to work there though. People choose when and what rules to follow there depending on their collective leadership at the school. Wasn't so impressed 

Working with students is rewarding and the pay is decent.  However, you're mostly on your own when problems arise.  More support would definitely help students succeed.  Very stressful position because the needs are so high and the role doesn't get the support/respect needed to do the job effectively.  Job satisfaction low because of above.  Have experience working for another board in Ontario and find the support at TVDSB to be poor.

Its a stable work environment that is perfect for people with families. The success of this system is derived on the self motivation and inspiration of the employee. There could be more systems implemented to improve the overall culture and work environment as there is a heavy cloud of being burdened with work in an ever shrinking work force.

I work as a relief EA for TVDSB, and there is always lots of work. You can never have enough EA’s, the pay is good too and it was really easy to secure a LTA with a school I liked. Every school is different so you definitely need to find out where you fit in at which school but I went to about 10 and they were all really friendly staff members and always making sure I had support when needed and were positive. 

Good company to work for . You work as a team in the summer months . During the rest of the year you work as individuals on your own areas . You clean washrooms , stairways,  hallways,  desks , chairs, sinks . You dust , sweep & mop floors . You vaccuum all carpets . You use a zamboni ( floor machine )  for hall ways and some times in your class room for more deeper cleaning.

I enjoys working with grade 7 and 8 students and also with grade 3 and 4. It was the most rememberable work that I done in my entire life because I feel like it will be really heard for me to teach grade 3 and 4 but they were so kind and understanding which makes environment more Waite to relate with them.

I was originally brought on to work at the schools as a secretary - however, I've been at the Education Centre since then.  Both areas that I've work in have been fantastic. 
I've learned a great deal. 

The cons - casual - no concrete job for the summer, or at all. 

The pros - amazing people, lots of knowledge, meeting new people all the time, great experience.

Working within the school board as an EA can be a very fast pace job depending what students you work with, what school, etc. It relies a lot on team work with your coworkers, admin, parents and students. communication verbally and non verbally is very important, written documentation is also important.

Your hired as a casual  you get 40 hours but your casual.   Then after a while you get told your next for full time.....then after a few months you will get placed into a full time position some where.  Great place to work you just gotta have patience.
