I feel like I truly lucked out finding this job. This past year I had the pleasure of covering a maternity leave position for Wellness Associate at Wesbrook Village. There are so many amazing things I can say about this job, but it really comes down to the people you work with. All the employees are amazing, it really feels like a family, everyone says "good morning" and "hello (name)" to one another everyday, everyone knows each other's names across all departments. Moreover, the residents are such a joy to work with. I had previous experience working with older adults and loved it so I knew I would enjoy working with older populations. The residents here are just incredible humans, so many amazing stories and wisdom from a lifetime surrounding you. It is a privilege to work with such inspiring people. 

In terms of the position of Wellness Associate, it is the dream job. You get to plan, organize and sometimes present in-house and external programing for the residents. There is a lot of flexibility with how you approach the job. Resident suggestions are encouraged and abundant, that being said, you still get the opportunity to focus on your strengths and what you can bring to the residents. For example, I am keen on meditation so I created an 8-week meditation and self-reflection course for the residents that I led. It ended up being a big hit amongst the residents so I ran the course again later in the year over the summer months. This was just one way I had the opportunity to personalize my job and share common interests with residents. 

All this being said there are always aspects of a job that are not always your favourite, and yet I do think that it really just depends on how you approach the challenge. For example, I knew going into the job that decorating for large events was apart of it. It was something I didn't have a lot of experience with and honestly, intimidated me at times. Over the past year, we have successfully put on at least a dozen large events from set up to take down and a few of them I led myself from start to finish. Decorating and event planning may not be my strongest asset, however I learned a lot of valuable knowledge through this experience and I now feel that I have more confidence when confronted with challenges. This also speaks to my supervisor, who is an amazing leader, providing support and encouragement when needed and helped me reach my potential, the perfect mix of wins and challenges! 

I've said it once and I'll say it again because it's true!, the best part about this job and working at Tapestry WV is the people, from managing staff and head office administration to our night shift Resident Assistants and everyone in between, it is such a great atmosphere and work-family to be apart of. Even though I had to leave this job to fulfil my dreams in higher education, I would come back to work here in a heartbeat! I would recommend to anyone who is a team player, a leader themselves, a people person and a hard-worker. Cheers!

The concierge position is the central point of contact for residents, staff and family members. It is busy and interesting - no two work days are the same. My fellow employees are friendly and helpful. All staff greet each other by name. The residents are interesting, lively and so appreciative of any assistance. The best part of this job is helping residents. The management team appreciates of my work. I work part time but  I am included in all training and employee recognition. In this fast paced job I have learned to prioritize tasks. Staff from other departments are always willing to help out, if needed. I am given latitude to make my own decisions. I am also given the same training opportunities as full time staff.

I am so blessed to find this opportunity to work with Tapestry. I never felt iam outside my home and family. Staffs are wonderful and are good team players. Management hears your concerns with respect. There are flaws but that just normal. There is no perfect people and company to work with. After my 16 years of employment in an Admin background, i decided to study a different field for a change and I found Tapestry as the place to work wherein I know I will be going to retire here, God permits.   I am here more than 4 years. A positive outlook in life will always be helpful if you always look for improvement not only for yourself but for for others also  especially the residents who are amazing and friendly. Great opportunity for employment. 

Tapestry Arbutus is an amazing place to work with a fun job culture and lots of career advancement opportunities. The best part of my day is making connections with the residents. Working full time, a typical workday for myself could be in the concierge, housekeeping or food and beverage department(s). Management is understanding and incredibly supportive of anyone who expresses their desire to grow in the company. I consider my management team to be some of the best people in the hospitality industry. I have learned so much invaluable knowledge form having the opportunity to work in multiple departments. 


The team here at Arbutus Walk is just amazing! The best I have ever worked with. It is not easy to find a place where you feel welcome, people are caring, considerate, where everyone is willing to help and is striving for excellence. I found that here. Incredible work environment.

Working with seniors is also very rewarding. When you see smiles on their faces even for things you could consider "small", everything makes sense and you feel purposeful.

The leadership team is very supportive and opportunities for learning and growing are there to be explored if you are interested and willing.

Nice place to work to...the residents, the management and fellow staff were nice and pleasant...been with the company for five years already and i enjoy working here although there are some challenges at some time but still i am happy and grateful to be working here...i do always look forward for our activities that involve our residents and us staff like our morning glory exercise, our line dancing, pole walking exercise, pumpkin carving, ginger bread house decorating and even just cheering our residents on their seated volleyball tournament...

I worked at Tapestry for 6 years, mostly while going to University. Their priority was always the residents/seniors and the company has strong values around doing the right thing. I was promoted 3 times while working there and benefitted from lots of training and coaching. The health benefits are good and they paid much higher than any job I could find before I finished my degree (and after, actually). I had lots of fun working there and felt like I was making an impact everyday. 

Tapestry an amazing organization driven by outstanding and supportive leaders, guided by their key operating principles. The staff are friendly and passionate about working with seniors, and they are always willing to go above and beyond to ensure Tapestry provides an exceptional senior living experience to residents and their families. I am proud to work for an organization that is truly making a difference in the lives of Seniors every day.

I loved this company for so long when I worked here... but that did not last long. The management will treat you poorly if you ever bring up any issues and every now and then head office will come down to sweet talk. Turnover is high because they do not respect work-life balance and there was constant overtime. Compensation was not worth the headache; no tips. Save yourself the time and apply literally anywhere else. I do love senior care and will continue to work with seniors, but at another company.

Residents and staff were all so warm and welcoming when I started working at Tapestry. I learn something new everyday and I am given the tools to grow at a pace that I am comfortable at. I can choose to challenge myself by dedicating my time to improve the quality of my own work or lend a hand to my colleagues. Everyone is so appreciative of my work which encourages me to give my best effort. The positive, upbeat atmosphere is contagious and I look forward to coming into work everyday.
