First of all I would like to say that I was happy to get this job at the time, but after a few shifts working there I quickly realized how bad it was. 

I'll break my experience down into a Pros and Cons list (How original right?) 

PROS:
1. For the most part I had really good co-workers, some were a bit strange and odd but for the most part I can't complain.

That's it for Pros

CONS:
1. If you want to be underpaid, then this is the perfect place for you, if you don't look elsewhere. While I was employed there I was begin paid a low 1st Year salary as a 2nd Year apprentice. 
2. Absolutely no benefits while I worked there. Management always said they were looking into getting benefits for the company. Never happened while i was there.
3. Most work was out of town and usually near the west coast like Vancouver. Had to drive there and was only paid a small flat rate for travel instead of being paid by the hour.   
4. Accommodations for out of town work were awful. Always had to stay at the worst hotels/motels. I never felt entirely safe while staying in these places. Plus you usually had to share a room with up to 2 other co-workers.
5. Per Diem was ridiculous. $15 per day. You could barely buy a sandwich and drink for lunch. Then supper came out of your pocket. Most other companies Per Diem are double or triple that amount.
6. 10 days on and 4 days off, and they would often move shifts around so you really might only get 3 days off.
7. While I was there, there was a period where I had 2 weeks off without pay because they just forgot to put me on the schedule.
8. Owner/boss loved to flaunt his wealth. New BMW, expensive clothes and a Rolex watch while most of his employees struggled to make ends meat.
9.  You have to sign a big employment contract before starting with them. I have never needed to do this with any company before starting with them or after leaving them.
10. They always seemed to be hiring, I'm not sure it's because they had lots of work at the time or its because most people don't stay with them very long. If it was because people didn't stay with them that long, myself included, that's a cause for concern.

That's all of the cons that I can think of at the moment, I'm sure there were more. In short look elsewhere for a job. If you are desperate maybe consider it, but I would advise to stay away from this company.

I have learnt so much working for Electech. Lots of great guys with a diverse set of backgrounds. The company has some really professional and experienced workers with very high standards. Great place for electrical experience and how to do it right!. I've got to work in residential, multi-family, modular, commercial and industrial settings while also gaining controls experience. I've travelled all over Alberta and British Columbia while working for them and have seen some cool places so if you want to explore western Canada a great company to work for. Nice company fleet vehicles for travel with some flights involved. Management has treated me very good and when I'm in need of extra materials or specialty tools they get it for you right away. I coordinate with the office often and get the answers I need. They are a bunch of hardworking guys both in the office and in the field. Accommodations can be tricky, as we at times work in remote locations or incredibly busy locations like Vancouver where availability in the spring and summer months is tough and BC is expensive as is! I've been with the company for a couple years now and have grown a lot as a journeyman electrician and am grateful for the opportunity with them. They're keeping some great Alberta electricians working!

Terrible employer. Make sure you read the contract because you are agreeing to $15 LOA and they like to move people around. You move around so much that you will realize that many people on the same site are being paid very differently for the exact same job and with the exact same experience. They say the wages are based of off regional areas but guys on the buddy system get favoured very hard. And people in your area will get brought in above the "max" for your area regularly. NOT TO MENTION WORKERS AGREE TO NOT DISCUSSING WAGES IN THE HIRING CONTRACT AND CAN BE DISCIPLINED ABOUT DISCUSSING WAGE.

The communication between BC and the AB head office is abysmal. If you are attending training call the office YOURSELF and get your ROE processed. 

The hotels they book for LOA work are the absolute cheapest they can find. And don't be surprised if there is no room ready for you after your travel day, or, that you still have a 40min+ commute to site. Travel time is also not your regular hourly wage. So you will wake up one day for work with a $15 LOA, and a reduced travel rate to and from site. Most guys are put in rooms with only a microwave and fridge so pack your food and equipment accordingly.

READING THIS HIRING CONTRACT IS WORTH YOUR TIME!!!!!!

A great place to call work with great colleagues. 

If you want to work hard and make money in an economy thats harsh, then Electech will make that happen.
The entrepreneurial style of leadership has diversified from a solely focused Calgary company and partnered with companies that not only work throughout Alberta but also BC (and also as far afield as the NWT and Nunavut etc, depending on the gig or the position you accept) that has a stream of constant projects being added to the roster which will keep you busy.

Like any rapidly growing company it does come with some growing pains to deal with but once you learn how things work, and get into the rhythm then its business as usual and good things moving forward.

Id recommend this employment to junior hands, and senior positions alike. Theres a good mix of talent pool at Electech so if your looking to start out as a labourer or a 1 yr apprentice or if ur a senior / experienced worker then Electech can, and will utilize ur talents while compensating you accordingly.

ElecTech is an excellent place of employment for enthusiastic individuals who possess a hunger for knowledge and challenges. With may talented and experience individuals in their employment. I would recommend any apprentices seeking employment to place ElecTech high on their list of pursuits.

 ELECTECH CONTRACTOR THAT CARES

I've worked for Electech for a few years now and have found the experience challanging and rewarding. 
 After 10+ years in the oil field, coming back to the commercial world was intimidating, but with the support, knowledge and understanding of our CEO I quickly regained footing and climbed to the foreman position.
 Electech is a fast paced, hard working company with a focus on quality and training. Great place for motivated individuals who take pride in their work.
 My wage has increased at a steady pace with time and position changes. 
  I've worked consistently since I started and managment is very understanding when I've needed time off. 
 Life on the road isn't for everyone but Electech makes it as easy and comfortable as possible and I have no doubt I'll be with this company for years to come.

Overall this is an adequate company. 
 They do not care about individuals. They care only about building the company. It is a fairly new company, it needs to grow.
 Most of the work is out of town, the LOA is terrible. Honestly 15 dollars a day is a slap in the face. It can be tough for people with family to be away as much as we are.
 There is not a culture of honesty among management. They will say what they need to to get their way. Truth is not a part of the conversation.
 They have work. If you want a steady job  and can handle some garbage, this is acceptable. The people in the field are very good. Nice, honest, professional people. The quality of work is excellent. There is plenty of opportunity to learn, plenty of places to work.
 It is not the best, but you can do worse. 
 The managers don't care about the workers, the workers don't care about the managers. 
If you can handle being on the road and getting terrible LOA, you can survive.

Worked for Electech for 6 months. They were upfront about the job requirements. Travel was a must which I was cool with until I had to move as my girlfriends job took us to Edmonton. Expectations, wage, travel pay and LOA were laid out clearly in the contract I signed upon accepting their 3rd year apprentice position. LOA is a bit low but I wanted the job so accepted the terms and was super happy they paid well for out of town travel as there’s not a ton of work in Alberta. 
Management was understanding of my move and even accommodated me with a position at a project close to Edmonton to help me transition to a new area and lessen the financial burden of moving. 
My only real complaint is some of the guys are complainers. Management needs to clean up shop and dump the dead weight as it spreads fast through out a company.
I learnt a lot. ElecTech made me aware I would be welcome back anytime. Overall a great learning experience.

Worked for this company for approximately 6 months a couple years ago. Accommodations and loa were biggest issues. Hotel accommodations were always supposed to be kitchenette rooms, never once was, and it’s near impossible to live off the $10 per diem they were offering at the time when you can’t cook for yourself. Travel pay for up to 10 hours a day was a joke, flat rate, not hourly. Spent more time driving to and from at times than actually working. Getting materials when working in BC was difficult, always had the builders asking why we weren’t prepared. CEO had no problem saying things would change and then do nothing to back that claim. Was many times expected to front my own money for materials and small things required, and then having to wait almost a month to get paid back was a real pain. I’d say if you need a job, these guys will put you to work, but don’t stop looking for something better.

I recently joined the ElecTech team as a full time electrician in BC.

I was very happy with the wage offered as it was one of the best paying in the area. The BC manger who interviewed me was very pleaseant and informative put my nerves at ease as I was very nervous and don't inverview well.

So far the work has been great the team of guys all get along really well. I even met the owner the first week I was on site he brought doughnuts and coffee at break time for the crew and chatted with everyone like old friends.

It is still early but to date I couldn't be happier with my switch from the previous company. They seem to have a lot of projects near where I live which is what I was looking for. I'm hopeful to have a fulltime home as ive had to bounce around a lot last few years with other companies.
