The advert doesn't tell you much but let me tell you, this is pretty much a basic telemarketing job. You are not on the phone per say but you are expected to complete a certain amount of files assigned on a daily basis in a certain time frame, the system as well as self reporting when you start/end a task and there is a quota for how "fast" you have to complete your work. The files in your folder are also previewed to you every morning in an email to remind you of "aging" tasks and once a week you are given a report on you and your team on how "fast" everyone is/meeting the companys quota, if you are below it you are expected to explain yourself to management. 

That being said, make sure when you are being hired that you are clear about your hours. I never was told anything and then got blamed later for working wrong hours- which was never communicated to me or in my offer letter. What i learned from my colleagues working this role, is to get everything in writing and keep copies of everything. This is a "everyone for themselves" type of mentality as a workplace culture- on a daily your team will send passive comments if you made a mistake, and management will easily throw you under the bus so they dont have to take any responsibility. Keep receipts of every transaction to protect yourself and sadly this is the only way to "gain" respect from management. 

I worked 8 hours, 40 hours a week. Everything is just in front of the computer- there is not much socialization between you and the team except for a weekly team meetings. My team was very honesty privately to say no one was interested in making friendships....that made work really just about work and very lonely as if you were to talk to a colleague, management would make passive comments about why they saw your Skype status as "in a call" for too long. 

The benefits are great, at 100%, the day you get hired which is amazing! That was the only thing I liked.

The hardest part of this job was that if you have a brain or capable of doing more, this job really dumbs you down. I worked at a normal speed and was finished my entire portfolio before lunch, when I asked for more work, I was reprimanded and constantly told by my peers to "work slower so you have something to do". There is no work advancement...i think just favourites get promoted but honestly, I wouldnt ever consider getting a higher position as you just become the jerk who micro manages the team.

I learned a lot about how bailiffs and skip tracers work and even a lot about the repossession process. I really disliked my management who gave no support or cared about me integrating with the team. They just want to squeeze all the work out of you and if you do the math, you're barely being paid minimum wage to do it.

Don't let the good reviews fool you.  This place is a sweatshop masquerading as a call centre.

Growth opportunities are non existent, you are in office 5 days a week with as little salary as they are able to pay you (Many of us have been stuck around the 40K/yr mark for many years.

The employees are clearly lifers and are so afraid to speak up for themselves they are willing to take any and all abuse.  I personally have been told that "I have kids so I guess I'm stuck here" (like what!?).

Management is nice enough with the exception of a few people however ultimately everything you do is rooted in volumes and time, that is what your value is based on.  

There are no yearly raises but there are pay for performance opportunities, they give you minimal raises based on performance and the increases are usually laughable or insulting.

They seem to only hire newcomers to Canada as of late as they are usually more open to the low pay since they want to gain Canadian experience (fair enough, completely agree!) 

Recommended for newcomers to get your experience and move on ASAP you're not going to make a career here.

I began my day with using a personal and upper-tier Quality Control process to troubleshoot and assess any technical issues of linework edits from previous day, followed by coordination with other exceptionally talented GIS Technicians and Mapping Technicians to allow consideration of zones of parcel change areas. As GIS Technician with Teranet Incorporated, I worked with Mapping Technicians and GIS Technicians to consult survey plans, and legal description documents to determine lot splits, consolidations and boundary issues, within the Ontario Parcel group. Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, as well as Ontario Ministries of; Attorney General, Natural Resources, and Government Services, were client base for Real Property development of land and property transfers. I created, updated SQL-based queries to establish personal quality control and adhering by a two-tier level of quality assurance.

They offered great benefits, flexible work weeks and a good salary. 

Management had an open-door policy. 

Always considering new initiatives to keep staff morale positive. Always considered new, exciting ways to award staff. Sometimes the work got boring and repetitive. Allowed staff flexibility to create ways to combat boredom and fatigue.

They are socially responsible. In knowing the project would eventually come to end, they took upon themselves, the responsibility to offer retraining and education reimbursement, offer resume help, cover letter help, job search help and even held a job fair exclusively for the members it was losing.

•	Manages the day-to-day administrative affairs of the Executive’s office, scheduling all appointments, conferences and meetings, business engagements and other commitments; handles changes or cancellations as deemed necessary and/or appropriate. Providing the Executive with background information, meeting summaries and/or supporting documents in preparation for scheduled appointments, meeting, and presentation/speaking engagements; coordinates with other departments as necessary for presentations, meetings and communications for preparation of specific engagements and maintains and tracks detailed priority list of projects and engagements;

Lack of experience in InfoSec and Compliance departments, they don't know what they're doing and they harass everyone with unnecessary concerns.  I've worked for other companies where their InfoSec and Compliance teams understood what they were doing and the instructions were very clear, at Teranet the info and guidance seem to change based on their mood.

Would not recommend.

Honestly the work is whatever but with the amount of work the dismal pay and the fact that you have to meet a unreasonably high productivity level and track everything you do I would honestly avoid working here unless you really have to.

Great people. Company has a real family feel to it. Working with the Government can be interesting. Pace can be a little slow at times, but that is largely related to the nature of the work. Can be frustrating & time consuming to convince the org of the need for investment in new technologies. But overall the company does invest where / when needed.

The company as a whole really cares about its employees and really wants to see people happy in their roles.

Some managers are very stuck in the past and are not people leaders - some want to move on to higher positions but are not respected enough to be advanced and this caused back log in Team Lead advancement.

Overall a great work environment with good people both on and off your team. Management is supportive for the most part, with a good focus on work/life balance. Like any company there is room for improvement, but Teranet was a decent company overall.
