Terra-Restaurant

Terra Restaurant was a great experience. They took me in with no previous restaurant experience and trained me quickly. Although management never really slowed down for me to grasp things (that's just my way of learning), there were understanding coworkers nearby that were glad to help me. There is little to no room for error at this restaurant, which is understandable due to the fine dining aspect of the establishment, but having no previous experience, I was nervous to make mistakes. Seeing this, my coworkers helped me. A couple managers, however, weren't as understanding, and were actually quite harsh when it came to mistakes. I do not blame them, because it's their business and their reputation and they have high expectations. Eventually, I got comfortable and made friends with many people there. making the experience that much better for me, and allowed me to learn and perform at a faster, more efficient pace. There are great staff meals provided as well close to closing time. The best part about working at Terra for me was my coworkers, making the job seem that much easier.

An normal day working at Terra Restaurants quite frankly is never just normal.  Generally in the restaurant business, with countless variables which could cause a chain reaction of disasters, staying on top of your game is a must.  Anything less than your best can result in a numerous amounts of unhappy guests.  Terra is classified as a fine dining restaurant, so of course high-end clients would always be on site.  It is crucial to have strong communication between all positions within the restaurant.  As a server you must meet with guests, make sure they are comfortable and also communicate with the chefs all within a timely manner.  Working as a team gets the job done, but working as family creates a fantastic atmosphere, one that will have guests wanting to return; which is most important.  Knowing that you have made your guests having an enjoyable dinner is very satisfying.

arrive at 4:30 pm and clean the restaurant and set up all the tables, chairs and more.

hardest part was serving everyone while learning the computer at first but then you understand everything it runs smooth. when you get a lot of customer some nights we got 180-230 heads thats really quick turnover needed.

Gave me the opportunity to learn a lot about maintaining quality service in bar tending, and maintaining high standards of service when dealing with customers. The only downfall, was that I hoped it would be a bit more fast paced. As it was th bear at a fine dining restaurant, the tables tended to be more busy than the bar. Regardless, I made drinks for all restaurant orders, but I was hoping for a more prominent bar atmosphere.

Everything was absolutely great until there was a big change in my hours and schedule. Which simply didn't work for me at the time. Typical restaurant. 

Overall management is pleasant. EC is sharp and while obviously not around too much, will take notice and can help guide promising cooks.

Expect extremes on busy and dead days as the locals wane from month to month.

Terra is a fun place to work at because of the staff. Everyone is unique and outgoing, they all understand how the industry works when it comes to personal problems.
