Tesco

First off I will say, the job its self i'snt that bad except for being on call 24/7 but the money is great. The office staff/management are about the greasiest group of slime balls your going to meet. As im sure your going to read in the other reviews that people left, your co-workers are good people. As for the office/management side of this company, I  have personally never worked for a worse company, the most incompetent, disorganised , unprofessional, dis-honest group I have ever met. Seriously a group of high school kids could run a the office better. Mainly im speaking about the Red Deer office, but Grand Prairie is just as bad if not worse. I'm writing this review in complete honesty , in hopes you will not waste your time apply for this company. Before i started i was warned by 3 previous people that worked there and i thought well it cant be bad, trust me its worse i was not prepared for what i was about to get myself into. Its time you'll never get back, your just going to quit sooner or later like everyone does that works there, the turn over rate is 6-12 months (again that is not because of the job) its because of management. There impossible to deal with/handle. Do your self a favour and run as fast as you can away from this company.

Working for Tesco is what you expect it is. Lots of people from all different backgrounds just trying to pay their bills. I made work-friends and have some laughs with colleagues and customers. My managers are always respectful. It is frustrating at times because not everyone works hard. If you work hard and take pride in the way your aisle looks, prepare for it to turn into chaos when you take a few days off. But hey, at the end of the day it is not your problem. I found that I successfully switch off when I finish work and I am able to relax before my next shift. If you are lifting heavy items, take care of your back but also enjoy the exercise. It keeps you fit!!! The benefits are nice. Colleague discount always helps. I was also happy to receive free uniform as a lot of jobs require you to pay. Overall, it is what it is and the wage is decent. 

A typical working day was data entry and when the shop floor was busy, went to assist on the tills. Learnt how to use Microsoft office works. Management was mainly centered at the top with little interaction at the bottom. Tesco has a good culture offering employees reward cards and opportunities for development and growth for all classes of people. The most enjoyable  part of my work with Tesco was always the help I could offer on the shop floor and when I had the opportunity to talk especially with the elderly when they needed a listening ear.

My responsibilities :
Repairing mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards, performing maintenance of electrical systems (controlling, testing, commissioning, repairing technical equipment).  Assisting in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conducting repairs when necessary, maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality, inspecting alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed, performing manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.), and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.).

The R&D was managed based on the start-up culture. We had the freedom to  try new ideas. We received all the support and mentor-ship to develop two designs from concept to market. 

The company in overall really valued innovation meantime they provide training and mentor-ship to keep high safety standard and best industry practices.   
TESCO is acquired by Nabors Drilling which went through a major management change.

I tend to arrive to work early and prepare myself for the given tasks, prepare the workstation to ensure efficient and fast productivity; therefore braking away from social life and focus on the given tasks; co-workers tend to ask for help instead of regular 'chit-chat' the most enjoyable part of the job is learning new things

- colleagues are friendly and helpful
- pay increase within the year

- keen to train you on other areas in store which is good if  you like variation
- good options for time off ( a few days to 6 months)

cons
- opportunities to further your career within Tesco are limited and rare. They would often give me managerial responsibilities to cover for someone, but never an official promotion or pay raise
- food in canteen is not the healthiest 
- employee excellence recognition is uncommon and not as highly celebrated as it once was

Tesco is a good company to work for, if you have the right managers and have a good bunch of people to work alongside.
Have the wrong manager, and your time could be less than good. But a good manager that you can have a laugh with and also have that professionalism with is a great manager.
May also need high level of tolerance for fellow work colleagues and also customers. (Some customers are awful).

A typical day at work was investigating over stocks, gap scan of entire shop floor, counting stock, printing and filing reports, going to meetings, completing shrink and a reduction walk. 
I completed a managers program in Tesco.
Almost all the managers treated u with respect and fairness.
I had a great relationship with all the staff in Tesco.
Hardest part of my job was everything had a time limit.
What i most enjoyed about working in Tesco is the people u meet from staff to customers every day was different in the job.

Managing co-workers at the front end of the store environment and making it a pleasant experience for customers.

Team work , problem solving skills, customer relationship management and communication skills.

Management were approachable 

My co- workers support each other.

The hardest part of the job was working long hours

The most enjoyable part of the job was putting a smile on customer's face and  achieving sales target.
