I delivered the newspaper 3 times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I would walk to the news paper bin which was about a 5-10 minute walk away and deliver paper around the block which took 40-60 minutes depending on weather conditions. I learned that when you have a responsibility to do something and people are relying on you, you don't have a choice but to get it done. There wasn't much management besides the lady who dropped off the papers into the bin, but I had only met her once at the beginning of starting my paper route. The only co-worker  had was my younger sister occasionally helping me out when I needed it. The hardest part of the job was the weather conditions. The weather conditions made it hard because we had a cold winter with a lot of snow that year, and a lot of rain and wind through out the rest of the year. The most enjoyable part of the job was getting payed at the end of the month.

I worked for the Abbotsford News as a newspaper delivery boy for 4 years on a couple different routes and it was a pretty good job at the time while I was going to high school. The route supervisor was very nice and helpful anytime I needed extra papers or had a problem. You can deliver in the morning or after school, whichever works for you. Don't expect too much room for advancement unless you want to get into writing or take on more routes. The hardest part of the job would be fighting the weather since the wind will want to blow away anything out in the open and the rain will ruin any exposed pages. Just bunker down and keep dry and you can enjoy the sweet rewards of your first paycheck.

With the termination of the on-site creative dept., it is no longer a viable workplace. Multiple factors make it almost impossible to reach targets, and management seems more inclined to hire new staff than to retain long term employees. There's constant pressure to sell an ever-increasing number of products, limited rewards, and a toxic workplace environment in terms of communication and expectations.

Working at The Abbotsford News as in Newspaper Delivery is a great starting job for those who have absolutely no work experience and it teaches you the interpersonal work skills. But it doesn't really lead anywhere in job advancement.

Good company to get a little work experience and be prepared for higher levels of working. Good place to start off your work experience and trains you for future jobs.

The job is productive and gets you to do something. You go down to the bin and get the papers and start delivering. It's a pretty self-explanatory job. It can be a little hard in winter and summer because of the weather.

I was able to work unsupervised and deliver newspapers before the deadline. I worked in the snow and rain and superior support if I was in need of any missing papers or any other issues that might arise.

News paper of the city was delivered to over 100 houses in a neighborhood two times a week throughout the year in all types of weather.  Collections were taken as well.

I do enjoy working with them and they are able to help we whenever needed, the pay isn't to good but is it good for a first job for anyone wanting to learn the basics in getting a job.
