It is a great workplace if you have an attitude of gratitude. They treat their employees right and go the extra mile for them. If you have an attitude of entitlement and would like to slack instead of working - somehow you feel like you should be getting extended break times and you can sit and visit  or be on your phone, gossip- sorry not a place for those. I would not say that staffing is not a concern, but it is not intentional or for cost saving- they are just in the same boat like everyone where there is not enough staff. I know that they are actively trying to recruit but given the fact that it is a smaller community I am not sure how many applicants they attract.
If you want to be happy at a workplace then the responsibility lies on you - be happy, spread the positivity, stay away from drama and negativity. It is only going to be what you make of it- make is a productive fun place and a great team to work with. 
They must be doing something right to have such long tenure employees …, lots of 10-30 years employee.

In the last 2 years things have really changed at Corporate. Cutbacks of positions and the work trickles down to other departments to pick up the slack. High Management turnover as well as people high up who are making very poor decisions and do not care of the staff below them and will continue to step on them as they move up the ladder. I was treated well, however I did see what was going on and the unfairness. There is not enough staff on the floor where it counts and workers are suffering with injuries, health, and morale. More importantly, residents are suffering due to lack of hands and time for them. Management does not see or chooses to ignore. Yes, pay is good as well as benefits, but it comes at a cost. If you like being run off your feet with sometimes no break then you will fit right in. Look at the newest reviews; this company has changed and not for the better. There are better places to work!

Prioritizing and multitasking was not a skill but a necessity.
I learned everything I needed to know about how to become an administrative professional at this work place as I started here on my practicum and was hired on my last practicum day.
Management was empowering, encouraging, and focussed on me learning all aspects of the programs.
The most enjoyable part of the job was working in an environment that believed in using your skills and taking risks. They always encouraged learning.
Excellent coworkers
Hardest part of the job was leaving as there were never permanent full time roles available and casual and part time work did not keep my financial house in order. I could not afford to wait for a full time opportunity.

As other recent reviewers have already mentioned, there have been huge corporate changes over the past few years. No one at corporate seems to care when good people leave, too many positions have been cut, the turnover and burnout rates have skyrocketed and we are frequently short staffed. I would have once said that this was a great place to work but the poor culture seems to have permeated the entire organization now. I only hope that things will change in the future but I think there needs to be a complete or almost complete change of senior leadership in order for that to happen.

Working with The Bethany Group was fast paced and rewarding. There is opportunity to learn many things in an ever evolving environment.  You must be an adaptable person and have excellent communication skills as it is a very diverse group.  They work closely with many outside organizations. Example : government agencies and Alberta Health Services
Like any job that is multifaceted there can be good days and bad days. I really enjoyed my work there and the people I worked with. My reason for leaving was my Husbands job was relocated, otherwise I would most likely still be there. 

I loved the residents, and in general liked the job I was doing. The pay was a bit over minimum wage to start. You pay union dues, and can sign up for benefits, and pension so that is decent.
It is unionized, so you have to rely on the union to bargain for a raise, this really means you don't get one. 
They don't pay overtime. 
There was a lot of upper management changes over the last while, which always makes a person a little leery. The work environment in my building was very toxic with the staff, and I was not supported when "push came to shove".

The Bethany Group is a pretty good company to work for. The management and senior leadership teams are very personable and flexible. I got to work on interesting projects which offered great challenges and experience.

Coworkers are a great bunch, a tight knit group.

The hardest part of the job was (and still is) trying to complete some changes during the day while minimally impacting users. But it's easy to do after-hours.

The most enjoyable part of the job was designing a network from the ground up.

Quality of care is NOT a priority. Staff get away with mistreating/ abusing clients. Things are reported, but never dealt with appropriately. 

Management does not prioritize employees taking time off. This leads to higher levels of burnout. 

There is no compensation for employees when they work short-staffed, which is chronically the case. This often leads to neglect with basic care, as staff cannot do care without a second person present eg. when a lift is required to move the patient. 

Very productive, residential interaction, front desk liaison duties, I learned what good support and positive reinforcement can do. I loved going to work there because of the management and culture, and the skills I learned, opportunities to improve my skills. Cons are contract was fulfilled with no chance of a contract extension. Hardest part of the job was leaving.

Was a great place to work when I started, new leadership is cultivating a culture of fear. Worked with three directors before the current, and never had a problem before, also never worked with a director who speaks so poorly of our organizations top man before.

100% turnover in HR department in the past two years should speak volumes to anyone paying attention.

Sad the organization is changing so much but not sad to be leaving.
