I was hired recently at Clifton Manor. The hiring process took a total of 2 days before I was on the floor due to their need for staff. I thought it was going to be an amazing opportunity, until I found out why I was hired AFTER my orientation. The only good thing they offered was the pay and I could pick out a handful of staff and their educator as the only one who helped me with the orientation process. While I was hired, this facility was covid free. I thought I was being hired as a nurse to work for the facility, but I was wrong. They forgot to tell me that they were hiring me in replacement of their permanent staff who in the case got sick because of covid, there would be me to replace them. Because this hiring reason was not clarified to me, I was terminated with no prior cal or with no real reason tfti termination, after I didn’t pick up a shift for one month (the facility went on outbreak a week after I got hired). All they sent me was a termination letter that was sent in my junk mail, and they did not follow up with my questions as to why I got terminated. Sad, sad, management. The least they could have done was give me a call to explain the termination. I’m fglad I was let go otherwise I would have a bad working experience there as they don’t treat staff like staff, they see staff as easily replaceable.

Coworkers really great, (except a couple hidden "employee of the years", that are actually abusive) 

Pay is okay, only thing is, they are NOT work life balanced and have no compassion for employees. They give you opportunity, but they'll take it away instantly if you have any other priorities outside the workplace. (Like your kids. Or your own health, the important things in life). 
They also have a pretty unprofessional way of communicating concerns.  I've never been punished for anything via email, without being able to have a voice or being able to defend myself, til now. No real reason, no reply to any questions on their decision..   In my opinion, if you want security I'd find somewhere else that is serious about finding the right people for the job. . Too often management heads are bigger than their genuine interest in finding someone that is actually serious about their career and qualified for the role. It's unfortunate, but it happens a lot. Save yourself the tug of war. ...
It's not about quality of care  here.  It's about managements need to feed the ego. If they would just look a little further than that, they'd see whats really going on. It's a shame.

Brenda Strafford Foundation - Clifton Manor is a very productive workplace where I learnt WCBs, Disability management, Recruitment, Trainings, Performance Management, Employee Intake, Disciplinary Procedures, and handling employee grievances .I actively worked on AVANTI HRIS Software to manage all the employee data such as employment history, Payroll, Performance Reviews, Salary Grades, Codes etc.
I had a wonderful experience working in a unionized environment. This organization is working closely with two unions i.e. AUPE and UNA. I had a great opportunity to work on reviewing Collective agreements and HR Policies. I also handled administrative tasks such as filing, fax, scanning and photocopying the documents.My co-workers were quite supportive and professional. I also took  the initiative to deliver the trainings to the program managers on Violence prevention at workplace. Overall, it was a great experience working at Brenda Strafford Foundation - Clifton Manor.

My co-workers are great! I's a great place to work just not enough hrs.The best part of the job is just getting shifts.The worst part is not getting shifts. I really have no complaints about working at Clifton except lack of hrs. 

Day--Punch in. Half hr. for report. Check care plans and do cheat sheets. Work in pairs with as many as 22 residents. Do or individual personal care, dress, mouth care and when ready get partner to help with lifts. Do shower.  When everyone up we get into dining room for breakfast and feed residents then come back and feed if anyone left in bed, Do POC wen possible. After breakfast, toilet and or change residents, finish showers if necessary, change and make beds, take break, get residents to lunch. Feed residents and after emptying dining room feed residents in bed if any. Toilet/change residents. Do POC. Give residents snack. Put residents to bed. Get rid of garbage and laundry, finish POC, report to nurse if necessary, chart in 24 hr. book bm's and showers,  punch out, leave.


House keeping is not a easy job. Most of the time there's a new employee. House keeping is a hard work. I learn how to sanitized the washrooms and kept them well supplied, made beds according to the health care and cleaned common areas such as kitchens and  waiting areas. I saw the employees how they took care of the residences. Some of my co-workers are generous and easy to work with. The hardest part of the job is too cooperate with my co-workers. The most enjoyable part of my job is having parities with our boss and the other employees. I was reading the news papers and I suddenly came across the name of a school of health care and its a perfect school for me and I realize that I wanted to go to school and to pursue my dream to be a health care. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay was decent for alberta 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Overload of work, upper management delegated all work. Human resources extremely horrible, and not organized. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Too many executives not enough frontline workers. False promises no recognition for hard work. Upper management would just sweep in for the photo ups

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Too many meetings too many restrictions lots of work, not nearly enough resources.

Shift work, tending to the needs of each residents, helping to prepare them for each day or night.  I learn how to compromise with staff and resident in completing each tasks.  Management was always professional and fair with all staff and residents, organize, concise and honest.

Bright cheerful environment, which is important for each individual.
Hardest part of the job was seeing a family suffering when their loved one was suffering with a health condition.

 Being a part of  a team effort of making a difference in a positive way for residents.

I worked for Clifton cannot for over two years. In the beginning I was told that in 6 months when I graduated high school I would be given a full time position, and benefits. When i finally got a full time position after two years, the postion suddenly didnt exsist any more. Without warning my hours were cut and would oven go long periods of time with out having shifts.  I felt racially decraminated against by my manager who belittled staff members on a regular basis. Management found any loop whole they could so they didn't have to pay people for full time work and benefits.

When I started working here, the mistrust between staff and the bosses are pretty obvious. I tried my best to help change this culture in my own little way but I myself was not satisfied with the management team. Well for a start, I was paid less to most of my colleagues considering my experience but it was not recognized. Then the support/training was just ridiculous. Good thing I am not there anymore but I learned a lot on how to NOT have an ideal workplace that promotes a positive environment.

I worked at the Okotoks location for many years, it was great at first then once management switched new hands became my worst nightmare, lots of racial discrimination,  very poor Staff and residents Care even worse.  You would care for 15-20 people on your own then get yelled at for being to slow, proper care is not given to residents and management just want staff who come in, shut up and keep quiet, if you stand up for residents they pick on you and get rid of you.  I would never work there again or out a family member in their care.
