The Briars Resort & Spa is a one-of-a-kind property with a rich history and stunning natural surroundings. It offers the chance to work in a creative, hands-on role where no two days are the same—especially for those involved in events, guest services, or operations.

However, the resort lacks consistent structure and up-to-date systems, which can lead to inefficiencies and miscommunication. Staff are often given little to no input on their schedules, which makes work-life balance difficult—particularly during peak season. While some flexibility exists during quieter periods, hours can become unpredictable.

There is a strong sense of pride in the property, and many long-time team members are passionate about guest experience. For someone looking to build hospitality or events experience in a scenic, fast-paced environment, it can be a valuable stepping stone.

The people are lovely. Management is the worst. They will cut your hours and your pay. They say there's no budget and fire people but then hire friends to just hang around. Employees run like crazy to save this place and make it look good but its just not good anymore. All customers hate how old and musty it is but management says there's no budget for renovations. Overall, not worth it. It'll do if you're desperate but expect cut hours and pay and daily frustration with management

This isn't a terrible place to work but it's not very organized and there isn't a set policy or any sops in place. Most of the staff are nice but will gossip about anything to everyone. Management doesn't really care about the place and won't upgrade it when it so desperately needs it. It's a simple ish job, it can become stressful depending on how many guests you have at a time or during wedding season but more or less easy going. The staff can be fun to work with depending on who it is. Not a reliable job.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Bad pay, no organization,  lack of management.  Forced employees to get covid shot or fired them 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Unorganized,  unappreciated and slow

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Slow. Clean rooms, prepare for new guears

-Good for people who like repetition
-Expect long hours and a hot kitchen.
-Always busy 
-Be ready to commit as the kitchen is close knit
-Fun with the right people
-Little to no time for breaks and food. Especially during service if you want to stay on time with prep.

The Briars is a Beautiful place to work with alot of history.my co-workers were amazing and very friendly, the customers could be difficult to deal with at times but ive learned to smile and stay calm no matter what situation i am in. the worst part of the job would have to be the split shifts. when you work split shifts 6 days a week you basically have no life. and that is the reason why i am seeking employment else where.

I like working at The Briars. Hours vary within the week, hours are always available. The staff are fun and local, with a mix of Jamaican individuals. The grounds are beautiful and make working within the area not as difficult.

I worked at the briars around 2017, and it was a really fun and fast paced environment. I enjoyed working there throughout my high school year for co-op. Only downfall was the hours weren't persistent.

I enjoy my flexible hours and ability to be creative within the allowed budget.
Overall I am my own boss
The hardest part of the job is some of the heavier lifting
I enjoy my job there but because this is a seasonal position I am not necessarily guaranteed a position the following year
