What I really liked is how they don't make a schedule for you, they send out notifications of available shifts. So you can pick what works for you. Great for students and people with other jobs looking to make some extra cash. Be aware that there is not much work available in the winter; July and August are also kind of slow. 

I also liked going to different venues. So even though the actual work is similar most shifts, being in different places all the time makes it less monotonous.

Most people were quite friendly, including management. You'll meet lots of interesting people. Certain events are a bit hectic at times, but there's a good sense of humour and teamwork.

Some things you might not like are how late some of the shifts can go, and sometimes you have to work quite a while without a break. Invest in good quality shoes for all the time you'll be on your feet!

This type of work is "contractor" which means you pay and file your own employment taxes (If you save no money from your salary to pay your taxes you can get slammed with a huge tax bill when you file). 
You also must take ownership to negotiate your pay rate and periodic raises. 

Event serving work = NO TIPS

TBDI is a fun place to work but it isn't a job for everybody. You must revel in a fast-paced environment, be keen on picking up on overflow work that colleagues might not do during a shift, and be willing to travel to wherever a job might be.

The work is basically seasonal - there are very few jobs available between the beginning of January and March. That said, one can pick up as many or as few shifts as one would like, with a minimum of two per month to remain on the active list. 

If you are a person who needs supplementary income or basic work experience, I definitely recommend applying. If you require a reliable income from which you can base your annual expenses, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Some of the events are good to work but you’ll never know how’s gonna be. Some shifts you need to work 9 hours straight without break/food (I already had to explain to a manager WHY i was drinking water after 4 hours walking with heavy trays lol) or get there very early for start to work 2 hours later.. disorganized. A good company HAVE TO control break time and to be clear with their employees.

Also, don’t expected understanding from the managers. If you have any problem or if you’re sick/had some injury, they will treat you very mean by not be able to work. They think you’re machine, not a human :) 

Icing on the cake: they don’t pay very well, specially after tax or if you work for some event out of city, the commute isn’t included. 

Management needs so serious work. If you enjoy being overworked, underpaid, pressured into taking shifts, retaliated when you call in sick, told it is slow season but told by favourited co-workers that they are getting 5-7 shifts a week, unclear hours, cliques, rude co-workers then this is the perfect place for you! 

They take advantage of new Canadians and students! PS I am a Canadian citizen and saw this all the time. Some people would work 12 hours shifts with one break, they give you left overs as your break food LOL, sometimes you’ll work 8 hours straight with one break right before the night ends, an absolute joke of a place 

I have worked for the butler did it for nearly two years now and I must say it's been a blast! I've worked with some great people, fun and exciting venues and great pay for a server! We are like a large family. I would recommend working there if you require extra income. I usually work five to nine shifts per month by choice. You can work much more or much less. you make your own schedule.

They pretend to be very professional, but rather they put their friends to be managers and supervisors and they are the ones picking all the shifts. Everyone else is left out and not given shifts. Even if you beg them to work they still won't care. Second worst agency I have worked for and I am glad I am out.

it is a ok place to work. The company is serious and in the busy season will send you shifts. As most of jobs, they will always have their preferences on people who sometimes (specially in the slow seasons) will get shifts for sure. But if you are a hard worker and show up on time (which is the least to expected) they will put you in good shifts, meaning they trust your work ethics.

I have been with the Butler for over 3 years. I have learnt a lot in that time. If you work hard there is a chance for promotion. There is a strong group of people who work there. Most co workers are kind and friendly. Management will listen to your issues. 

Great for their flexibility. Most of the time it's just an easy-serving job and you make some extra cash if you're good with customer service since all thew event they worked for are high-end. The management actually value your hard work and willing to give you a chance to improve your skills/ give you a higher position.
