The company means well and make efforts to have a good work life balance.
Head office is very clique-y and outsiders struggle to forge strong work relationships with long term staff
Senior Management is change resistant, stuck in an old boys club, clings to founders regardless of their skill set and isolated in its own building, blind to team performance.
Project Managers, Estimating and Project Controls have leaders who have little to no, industry standard training in proven practices and principles. 
Estimators and Project Managers are trades people with no formal training and resistant to change and training; mgmt thinks they are great but estimators and project controls staff couldn't get an interview on the mainland because as they have no experience and no soft skills.
Estimators especially, don't have any cost engineering experience, don't know how to develop project metrics or unit costs, certainly can't complete a project analysis or use current estimating and project controls software. Estimating uses outdated and extremely risky software and employ estimators with zero skills in tech. Estimators Canada wide have experience in several estimating and project controls software programs...these guys don't.
AACE affiliation is pretty much non existent and only select peoeple get reimbursed for annual dues.
There is nobody in estimating and project mgmt with formal cost training... it's all old boys club, this is how we have always done it mentality.
If you coming from the mainland with real world or mega project experience, prepare to step back at least 15-20 years in estimating and project mgmt application
As with all old boys clubs, there is almost zero chance for advancement unless someone dies or quits.
Most everybody pads their hours - they work 5 or 6 hours and charge for 8
The entire organization rewards the Dunning-Kruger effect - they don't know what the don't know and don't tell them they don't know... You'll be treated like the lone educated Democrat at a Trump convention.
If you are hoping to use this as company platform to move into mega projects and further your career... Don't! You're far better off to go west or stay out west!
This company and many more like it, are the reason Muskrat Falls is under investigation... incompetent, unskilled, untrained, complicit, reinvent the wheel daily and resistant to change because of money.

I was very privileged to have an opportunity to work with this company which allowed me to bring my own ideas to the table. Having a work day of duties which had to be carried out I was confident to get them done knowing I had full trust in me. A typical day included reading the minutes during our start day in the morning, then discussing with my workers what had to be done and by whom. Feed back was always welcomed in case something I may have overlooked would be avoided later on as we are all a team helping and looking out for one another. It was a friendly environment to work in, we all got along well with minor disputes which was always encouraged to be resolved ASAP. The hardest part of my job was when I had to speak to a worker who was slacking or not doing their part but I also know this came with the job titled and was to be expected. The most enjoyable part was when we could take work away for a bit and enjoy our free BBQ'S, Gift draws, prizes and of course the money.

While I worked for GJ Cahill Ltd., I applied my experience in numerous electrical duties, such as, fabricating cable tray supports, installing cable tray systems, grounding cable tray systems, pulling various sizes of power/instrument cables, testing cables and terminating cables to the required devices. On top of that, I kept daily records of job tasks and reporting to the supervision on daily job tasks. Out of all of this, I learned that I can depend on working with great people, great management and great work tasks. The hardest part of the job, honestly, is having to be away from family, but the most enjoyable part of the job is what I can bring home to my family, which is a better quality of life.

I have learned many things working for GJ CAhill/Iskueteu that I never thought I would be doing. I enjoy going to work every day for a company that treats everyone fairly. The management for this company is fair, friendly and very out going. My co-workers; I have absolutely nothing to complain about. They are funny and outgoing and very well to get along with. 

Hardest part of the job probably for me was trying to communicate with clients with such a different language barrier. I love a challenge so this was exciting for me however still difficult

Metal World has come a long way since I first started my workterm. Their safety culture is constantly improving. Everyone here wants to work together to get the job done on time and in a safe manner. A typical day at work consists of paperwork and several walkthroughs of the shop. It may consist of new hire orientations or subcontractor walkthrough. The management and employees here and simply fantastic. The hardest part of the job is trying to get the older workers to buy into the safety. The best part is interacting with so many different people on a day- to-day basis

I was a heavy lift rigger I built the cranes and set mods they were good to work for

I never felt stressed out at all we worked very professional

Everything was a steady go but always safety was priority 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
We would plan our workday and work out plan things can change and do change but nothing out of ordinary. we are tradesman

Company that's looks out for number #1, themselves.

Majority of workers were great but management tried its  best to keep moral at an all time low.

They must be new to the industrial construction industry because they hired unqualified and partly clueless managers and superintendents.  Poor quality and a gross lack of tools made the job unsafe and difficult to complete.  Bonuses for the managers were top of the list and completing the job safely and efficiently was never a concern.

I learned a lot as filling some gaps in my knowledge.

Workplace culture, as I said sometimes I feel at home.
Hardest part is sometimes its hard to collect information from supers as everybody is busy.
Most enjoyable part when I submit weekly report and get some comments from management and then correct their expectations.

Management and co-workers for the most part were friendly and willing to work together to meet goals and or milestones.
The companies management pushed to improve as time progressed.
Days went by quickly due to amount of work put out.
Getting timely material deliveries was key and striving to get what was required to support construction needed continual attention.

learned a large amount about my particular trade.

management knew what they wanted to get done and knew how to talk to the men to get the job done.

best part of the was the job itself. very interesting and never seen it happen before.

hardest part of the job was trying to get gear to do what we had to do. they started off with all the right gear, but when it got used up, it wasn't replaced.
