The County of Bruce

The County of Bruce is an excellent corporation to work for and with. Very team orientated and does value its employees. The employer does expect excellence from its employees. My executive position in the County was very demanding and highly stressful on a daily basis.My health care position was also  highly regulated by the Ministry of Health which brought increased daily expectations;increased stress and sometime unrealistic deadlines 

The County of Bruce provides ongoing education and training to their employees and are to be commended in it's leadership development.

Work was always short staffed, every single shift, day, floor. Agency workers are given more hours than the home employees. 99% of the time they won’t pay for your missed break. If you stay OT, you are NOT guaranteed time and a half, even if you worked a 16 hour shift, most of the time you will get paid hourly wage. Management mine as well not even be there. They’re just as bad as the co workers. Everyone gossips about everyone. Just keep to yourself. There are WAY better homes to work at in the area! 

A typical day is getting to work on time enjoying a free cup of java and getting to the task at hand. I have the best co-workers they really do understand TEAM-WORK. The hardest part is not having a clear plan to get a project done and the rare mis-communication but that is all mitigated by have a great HR Team.

Many contract positions, double standards, management in some sectors can be very difficult. (Asking why you’re booking time off) allowing most staff (contract or otherwise) to partake in various activities while using a contract status as an excuse to deny others the same liberties.. overall an unpleasant environment in some offices while others were more enjoyable and collaborative 

I am still employed  here , it is like a family unit, who loves the residents  like they were their own, 
I am seeking employment  closer to my son  , Brucelea Haven offer  lots of hours,  & have many staff & residents with a LOT of old school traditions & can somewhat be a bit abrasive with staff  who are not local 

The first day I got there everyone was very welcoming. They were all so very helpful and I was able to feel comfortable asking questions. Residents were amazing and I worked with amazing staff. Everyday was different but that’s the best part of the job. You never know what it’s going to be like. If I ever become a PSW again that will be the place I go back to. 

I personally really enjoyed working at Gateway Haven, although the management team was not the best. From what I understand the management team had changed several times and nobody was quite sure what rules to follow. But that being said the residents were amazing, and truly appreciated our being there.

My time at Bruclea,at the start was wonderful,Unfortunately they let the best ,manager go and from there down hill .Changes Changes Some staff even went to county Nothing Done Always Looking over your should👍Always working short.😱

at the county of bruce, i cleaned floors and waxed floors.. i cleaned individual offices removing trash and general cleaning. i maintained the lawn maintance and did yearly maintance on the building

Job is ok, a lot of work and understaffed. There is enough work for at least another staff member in each position. Management from other department don’t get along.
