The Friends

The Friends was a great place to work. Your co workers become your biggest supporters. The clients are great and there is so many programs to learn. If one doesn’t suit you maybe another one will. Management is great. Its an open door policy and they were always open to new ideas. They were accommodating when it came to scheduling and tried their best to please everyone. They had multiple training courses available and if there is something you would like to learn you just had to ask! The shift work is difficult for family life but the job is rewarding and needed for around the clock care for others! I really liked working there because it felt like a team and I felt supported. I felt like I made a difference at the end of the day!

To build up your resume. People are always calling in sick so you can pick up extra hours. Some job opportunities come up but they usually know who they want to give that position to ahead of time.
They gave several different programs within the organization, so you can expand in that way. Community work is a big part of The Friends and how they support people with disabilities but help keeping individuals independent and living life. 

Although not the highest paying job in the area - this company more than makes up for it with excellent benefits, RRSP options, good mileage and travel time reimbursements, vacation pay and flexible scheduling. The management is extremely friendly and supportive, while maintaining professional boundaries and respecting your time and work life balance. The clients are all amazing! This is an excellent place to work and worth getting your foot in the door!

I really enjoyed the hands on experience and the ability to help others in a respectful work environment. Its a great place to work and if you're new to the field I highly recommend it. 

Loved the clients. Management was a lot to be desired.  Not quailified to do what they were doing. Family and friends of supervisors got promoted within company. Very bad.  Wondered how they got away with this because personal support workers are supposed to be under a registered nurse's direction only, not some unquailified people that were not.

This job I could would be great for a single person. They do not really accomadate to working family homes. The management, doesnt come and get to know their employees. I know their busy, but I got pulled into the office and told I was fired. Then when she said the workers name, I told them they had the wrong woker.

Great team to work with!  Clients are nice and make you feel appreciated. Schedules are put out the 15th of every month.  There is shift work.  Every other weekend off.  There are plenty of different programs and hours.

Great staff and clients. Be prepared to work doubles and all shifts. This was home away from home. Management is great for encouraging continuing education. If you would like lots of hours and keep yourself excessively busy that you develop brain fog this is the  place to go.

Very pleasant working with mostly elderly clients in their homes. Management   at supervisors level caring and supportive.Able to pick my own schedule and route. Never any problems   with making changes to accommodate  a day off.
