The Gardener

The Gardener is a straightforward no-nonsense company where you do not have to guess what you should be doing. The company has many different crews with different jobs, for example, gardening, lawn maintenance, and exterior enhancements crews (planting, mulching, seeding, etc.) meaning you're very likely to find a job you are interested in and motivated by.

 I worked in lawn maintenance; an excellent role for industrious people. This is because the work is defined by a 5-day schedule of houses which are maintained weekly. Over the weeks as you work at each house you watch the incremental improvements your efforts have built, and I found this very motivational. Additionally, by working quickly and efficiently your extra efforts are highly tangible; days can be finished faster and/or with excellent care (especially regarding gardens) if you apply yourself. Conversely, greater work output can be very difficult for others (or yourself) to recognize, and is unlikely to be rewarded when working on the line at a factory or at fast-food restaurant.

The culture at the Gardener is very supportive and welcoming. Due to the nature of landscaping, the Gardener breeds a collaborative workplace, not a competitive one. For example, if your crew is running behind on a given day, for any number of reasons, you trust that one of the other crews will come to help you out to finish off the work within reasonable-day's working hours.

I personally would recommend the Gardener as a great summer job for students (which I am, and would return next year) if you enjoy working in the outdoors and are reasonably fit. The only real con about the job is some days can get very hot and uncomfortable; however, a large water bottle filled with ice makes a huge difference, and you can refill it anytime for free (ice too!) at most fast food restaurants.

I have worked for the Gardener for 5+ years and have been promoted multiple times. They recognize and value hard work and a positive attitude and reward you at every chance they can, whether its positive words of affirmation (which goes a long way on those hot, exhausting days), half days when possible where they host team bbq's/ order food or icecream trucks with games to play, or giving you a raise/promotion. Things are different this year due to covid but they still try to do what they can to show their appreciation for our hard work (they did an outdoor, socially-distanced, team appreciation breakfast at the beginning of the season) and thats what makes this company stand out from others. The culture at the Gardener is whats made the difference for those of us who return year after year. You are well taken care of, properly trained, and listened to. It's a great company to work for if you're looking to have your skills taken to the next level, to move your way up in the industry, and feel valued for the hard work you put in! 

Overall, The Gardener Burlington was a great place to work, communication, goals for the day, and special projects were clearly laid out in advanced, provided the office had enough warning. (Sometimes projects come as a surprise, it happens in landscaping)

However, be prepared to work, Summer work is money time, meaning longer hours in the summer, and if you enjoy the outdoors, lots of financial reward in return. Students looking to make good $$ for school look no further! 

Crews are also ALWAYS willing to help, there for it is best to keep that teamwork, tight knit family mentality in mind, just because you may be done early, doesn't mean you should always run out the door, be ready and able to help a crew that may be having difficulties, it certainly gets paid back tenfold when you struggle.

I was hired here as a crew leader. It was their busy season, all new hires received a 2 hour orientation plus an on line safety session. The people seem nice and are supportive. The owners daughter is a gem. She is wise beyond her years probably only 25, she's patient and hard working.
They said they advance hard workers. We'll see what happens with that. They don't treat you as just a number.
The work is hard, but you have a sense of ownership as you are on your own to complete the days tasks with one or more other crew members.
All in all a very nice place to work. I hope to advance and receive full time employment, the outcome will be very much based on my performance, which is exactly the way it should be.

As a current employee at The Gardener Burlington I can confidently say that I have enjoyed my job and the work environment from day 1. Employees support one another and are consistently supported by management.  The work culture is respectful, inclusive and fun. Yes, it is hard work and fairly long days, but this is simply the nature of the landscape industry. In every respect I am so glad I joined The Gardener Burlington. 

Working at the gardener Landscaping had been a wonderful experience all around for myself. From how promptly and effectively they responded to my application. Following how efficiently they offering me employment. 

While working with the crew and management, you can feel how close and connected the crew and management are. From communication to respect!

This is a company atmosphere were they build you up. If you're student or a or a season worker give  the gardener a try you won't be disappointed. You can pick from many Crews example construction grass maintenance landscaping enhancement. Gardening.

This job was great to work for . Everyone maintained professionalism in the work place . After fall clean up the job slows down and only requires you to go out if their is clients that have signed up for snow removal services.

I worked  there not to long  ago 
 management is terrible they take. For ever to answer  you and when they say there going  to do something  they never. Follow through  and make up excuses  why they cant do it  then randomly  fire  you for  no reson 

This job allows me to learn new things everyday. Coworkers were always willing to answer questions and provide explanations. Most enjoyable part of the job was the satisfaction of having an job completed and customer happy.
