•Providing front-line support and advice to management and employees on matters relating to recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, pension and benefits, payroll, policy interpretation and clarification
•Manage the recruitment and selection process for client groups, including job postings, interviews, and onboarding of new employees
•Provide expert HRIS support to the HR team and responsible for running specialized SAP HR reports, such as Employee Costing, Compa-Ratio, etc. 
•Responsible for maintaining Organizational Management (OM) and Personnel Administration (PA) in SAP HR
•Responsible for assisting the HR Business Partners and Director of HR as required in grievance issues and meetings
•Participate in the preparation of annual Performance Appraisals and support management with calibration exercises
•Responsible for the management of large Human Resources projects, including – but not limited to – Employment and Pay Equity, SAP re-organizations, etc.
•Involved in the development of Human Resources policies by providing input and support as required

The Globe and Mail has been Canada's national newspaper since 1844 -- the circulation department is a vital cog in the machine that creates high quality journalism daily. Our department very often cross-functions with the Sales/Marketing department as well as Logistics to ensure all bases are covered when it comes to consistently building our brand while managing the level of service Globe customers have come to expect. 

The admin team in circ is a very small team and we are constanting putting out fires -- I love this and find it exciting because it keeps me on my toes. I am happiest when being challenged within my role and look for ways to grow constantly.

The Globe and Mail is the best company I have ever worked for. You work at your own pace driving and delivering papers.My boss is an excellent man to work for.  I have been with the Globe and Mail for 15 years and will be here for the rest of my life. The hardest part of the job is having a car available when your car breaks down but a great mechanic is all you need. The easiest part of the job is the job itself. You drive alone at your own pace at night with no traffic or other obstacles to battle. You stop and take a break whenever you want. I recommend this job to anybody.

The Globe and Mail is one of the leading newspaper in the country.

Answering phones, Photocopying, Correspondence, Calendar Mangement for the Director and Snr. Managers, Travel Booking, Arranging Lunches, Board Room Booking, Expense Reporting, Maintaining Vacations schedules were among the routine jobs done on a day to day basis.

I enjoyed working with and for the Senior Management of Company. Co-workers were very friendly and helpful.

I enjoyed the variety of work at this position as I was reporting to the Director and also supported her direct reports.

Sitting in at weekly meeting learned/got to understand the amount of work it takes to bring out a daily popular newspaper.

This is a great place to work for people who are motivated by the creation of quality journalism and are looking for work/life balance. It can be challenging to climb the ladder in a small, relatively flat organization. Young, ambitious people often burn out or leave waiting to be promoted. The best journalists in Canada stay here for many reasons, including their brilliant colleagues, but also because there is no where else to go that is as good as The Globe in the country. The company is aware of this and one might think they take advantage of this.

The department I used to work for was extremely sloppy, and it felt that most of the time, they were improvising. There is no real governance process, and you are expected to skip the guidelines.

In less than a year, all the team resigned - which speaks very loud about the person who you report to. This is the real problem.

I keep seeing the position published every 2-3 months, which leads me to think that anyone who gets that job quickly swaps into a better position.

Nothing is stressful about my job i am enjoy my work 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Its not micro management for sure 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I first check my email after logging in and check for responses from previous day then i check support mailbox for anything that needs urgent attention and work on it

Perfect for someone who enjoys customer service in a controlled and pleasant environment.
The work is very rudimentary for hospitality so if you truly love hospitality this will not be satisfying at all.
There is a cut throat nature to upper management that trickles downwards to incompetent and abusive middle managers. They will throw you under the bus if they get caught not performing properly.

The original team that I started working in the Accounts Payable Department with were well organized and dedicated to completing the tasks at hand.

Our manager and supervisor had the ability to make different personalities be able to work as one unit, with no one feeling left out.

I was happy to work for a company that held itself to high standards and I did my best to help maintain those standards. The enhancing/archiving job suited my personality of being accurate and paying attention to detail - the same personality traits that were called for in my previous work as a copy editor and proofreader.
