It's a healthcare setting so of course it's understaffed which leads employees to either slack off, do the bare minimum, and not make it, or overwork themselves and take personal initiatives to do so. Because of this, there is a great sense of belonging and security within certain staff members and management, we all have to pull together and make it work sometimes to get the residents cared for efficiently without adequate staffing at times. I worked in the kitchen and housekeeping and got to know the residents surprisingly well after some time, and each day is an exciting one. I was there for over 2yrs and we went through 4 managerial chang overs.

My day is very busy with seeing clts. I go into their homes, I give baths, get clts ready for the day. I usually learn new things about clients on their needs, or something interesting about them. Management is pretty good. The hardest thing about my job is trying not to get very close to the clients, cause once they pass away that is hard cause you have spent a lot of time with them. The most enjoyable thing I like is spend time with my clients one to one, and getting to know them, and what they did in their life.

I have been bullied and harassed by my Colleagues and Management. Managers are meeting up with their favorite employees to have little parties on the balcony.  Certain rules do not apply for everyone equal, favoritism is pretty dominant here. I got blacklisted by the DOC for "Performance issues" but had never been called in for that...
I had to move to a different province to find work again!

Friendly people.food provided and recognized.

Sun downing.deaths and codes.You have a team to help.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly coworkers overall. Lots of different personalities. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A long day.usually have a good time.

They are an OK company but they overwork you and if you burn out and take time off they punish you for it! You’re only allowed to Miss three days of work a year! I do not recommend working for them! 

I like working at The Hamlets at Penticton it feels like family.  The benefits  are amazing. There are so many good things to say about the Hamlets. We have a super recreation team, great careaides,  awesome nurses and hard working management.

There is a culture of bullying and gossiping among the care staff.  Management has done nothing to address this, they choose to ignore issues, rather than help solve them, or sweep them under the rug.

like a prisoner: you are not able to advocate for the residents once you know too much about how they run the place you get pushed out false aligations bythe manager,sheis not nice. you/residents have no rights.no job security especially if you are experienced and pleasant do not work here.

I missed working there and felt sad when I had to relocate from Penticton because of the work culture there
 Very friendly staff and the residents too are very nice.

I have worked at the Hamlets since 2008. This is my second home and my family. There is fantastic workplace and we work like a dream team. Staffs care compassionate.
