-Poor team leadership/ Some leaders don't know to help you, which keeps you floating around with questions.
-They tell you to seek assistance or help but end up putting that against you in the future, like getting rid of you
-Do not correct your mistakes if you went wrong somewhere
-Training is rushed with a lot of information and expect you to perform the task as if you were there for 5+ years and complain if not done right.
-Mostly working independently in confusion due to lack of training or attention in weak areas of each individaul
-They throw extra work at you while being short staffed that isn't part of your work description
-They have a hard time finding individuals willing to work for this company, so they fire the ones willing to learn instead until they find someone else and constantly repeat the training process instead of teaching each individual CORRECTLY
- Growth opportunities are more for those who have been there for nearly 5 years.

As a Finance Intern at Smuckers, I had gained experience in accounting and finance. During this time, I was responsible for sorting through over five million dollars of freight and inventory entries on Excel. In addition, I had to track and analyse daily changes in commodity prices and present my findings to the team every month, encouraging a newfound fluidity in my communication methods. My efforts and progress were recognized by my manager and colleagues, my work was extended to include freight accruals, payments, the calculation of purchase price variance and accounting for the foreign exchange impact of international transactions.

I worked straight midnight's at ten dollars per hour before qualifying to make regular part time at fourteen dollars and twenty-five cents per hour. It was very long and difficult to stay focused and the heat was intense in the plant during the summer of 2011 before the plant closed its doors and moved to  Wisconsin in the United States.

The company's way of doing business it just too conservative.  They won't take action and will let a business sink, disregarding all recos, instead of taking action.

The company means well, but the level of the managers and their experience managing people lacks tremendously.  If you have a good manager, you are fine.  If you don't, you are screwed.  It is pretty hit or miss.

When company was growing with acquisitions every few years it allowed for career development.  Recently there have been only divestitures of categories and staff reductions leading to more work for fewer employees


Would make employees work days in a row midnights; did not respect shift choice. very difficult work, especially in the summer when it was very hot. Then they relocated to the United States in 2011.

J.M. Smuckers, or Picks Pickles was just a summer employment. a guaranteed job with guaranteed pay. As long as you worked hard and didn't fool around. you job was secure. leaving little worry for a highschooler that wanted to make money.

At the moment, there isn't much to discuss in regards to this company. There are some difficulties in regards to acquiring additional assistance, but the working environment and the people are pretty good.

At the time I was working through a temporary agency and was making a minimal wage until almost two months later I received an advancement to part time just before close.
