My experience started off well. There was lots to learn but next to no formal training, even after working there for 9 months, it was put aside and never happened.  

I loved almost all the staff. There were lots of unique personalities and easy going conversations to be made with the team. I was very interested in helping the service dept and any others I had the chance to. I enjoyed my unique role which benefitted the dealerships’ profit and I managed to minimize as much error in my work as I could which made a high contrast difference from the work done by the employee prior to me. 

After settling in, it was difficult not to notice the favouritism of staff by certain management. It was obvious that everything included double standards. It was also upsetting to know that I was one of several who not only noticed, but were directly and negatively effected by it. 

Keeping on, any questions I had were to be brushed off. After being promised compensation (that never did happen) for extra work that was not included my original role, being asked to skip lunches to work, coming in on weekends, helping with extra tasks and even some personal favours, being encouraged to quit a second job, I was treated more as a second-class employee. Being asked to move my work space up and down the stairs and then into a different shared space wasn’t easy and was not efficient. 

It was very stressful at times. In important situations where more serious calls had to be made, management is no where to be found. Customers frequently were frustrated with no option to contact people who are supposed to be taking care of issues that need a larger amount of attention. Even when they were present they would encourage NO calls to be sent to them, or would not offer any help when needed, even though that is their position. The lack of communication between me and my direct manager was a joke. After bearing with it, my hours were cut from 40 to 12 a week even though I was originally hired with 36 hours a week.

 I am so glad I now found a full time job where I can work in an environment where everyone working a certain job has the same opportunity. I’m not sure how well this team will do with the (lack of) suppport they are given. It seems any issues or high stress situations are not taken seriously and are discarded. No wonder so many staff are on the brink of leaving. Sad. It truly has the potential to be a wonderful place with a few major changes.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It’s a large group with many opportunities and locations across lower mainland 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It’s all about profits top down management and since everyone’s performance metrics are based on that and bonuses tied to managers are fairly ruthless and cutthroat 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Wasn’t great at where I was but it could be location there were people there who had been there for decades so it wasn’t ideal politics and what not favouritism etc 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Decent  busy was a core sales team member for two years and top producer but when I chose to leave it wasn’t very nice and they tried to tell me how I wasn’t up to the mark I was up to the mark for two years and suddenly I don’t hit your bullseye I think management and people that are immediately above us make it harder for good employees to rise up 
They like to safeguard their positions 
As an example the northshore location for Jim Pattison is full of Persian people why cause most of the manhagers were Persians and only allow Persians to come through the ranks or favour them
Whatever it may be it’s not nice that a place of business is tainted with such things I never stood for it and as a result I opted to leave after a successful career and almost a 100 cars as pending orders during Covid :) left them in 2022 may

I was great at my job and stayed there for quite some time, longer than all others in my position. But the two-faced personality was real with the administration management. The favouring, the nepo baby hired, and refusing to hear my voice and concerns or needs. I would have worked there longer if my first manager was still present. I had a great relationship with managers in the other departments, but alas, my own manager couldnt care less about me and tried pushing me off to the side every chance they could, regardless of my hardwork and commitment to improve. I even communicated every leave and troubles I had that would affect my work efforts, but I suppose that doesn’t matter either. Funny how I was never offered the other shifts available as well but they posted a job posting with more shifts that I would have greatly desired and requested multiple times after my schedule opened up. I also communicated WHEN I would have further availability and can help in shifts more but that was never considered either. 

I worked for this group for several years and the managers have only one thing in interest, Is too push you to work harder and make numbers, quality goes out the window for this group they under pay all there staff and never deal with employees that don't have good work ethic because they don't want to lose a warm body they claim. They're not able to recruit new people fast enough because of their low wage and always have every department under staff. I told one one of my managers at one time that  I need help Because we are really backed up and the answer I got back was  I pay you enough to do it on your own. Also they don't keep any shop equipment up to date until it breaks down even if it was acknowledged from before and discussed with the maintenance manager pretty much everything gets ignored. 
So do yourself a favor and look elsewhere or get ready to be lied to and with false hope. 

Currently as of 06/18/14 Hyundai Nanaimo. The parts and service department has gone through 6 years of total mismanagement and is a total TRAIN WRECK! The acting GM is seeking a fixed operations manager capable of pulling the proverbial rabbit out of the hat. If someone is capable of getting this train back on the track without any tools,heavy equipment or cooperation from the current management, wants to work for minimum wage and and does not have any opposition to exploitation of his/her subordinates by all means take a wack at it !! 
 
In summary I will say exactly want this automotive professional with 30 years experience in the Automotive Industry ,communicated when I walked out after only 2 weeks!

In my personal experience of working for the J.P. Auto Group for over 12 years is one of respect and integrity, they have great leadership from the top down, excellent structure with a chance for there people to advance, they care for there people, they invest in training and education, they also care for the community around them. Like any successful business you will need to apply yourself and be prepared at working hard but you will be well compensated.

A typical day at work I would be seeing many familiar guest bringing in their vehicle for servicing. Working as a service advisor, I have learned a lot from the guest I meet and from the work I do. I have learned to be more productive, and have gained plenty of people skill experience. I have a very good relationship with the managers and employees, which makes working at Jim Pattison Lexus a fun and friendly environment for me. The hardest part of the job which happens very rarely is having a guest that is impossible to please no matter what I do and how hard I try. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing I have provided the best service I can and having my guest leave with a smile on their face and having their appreciation with the service I have provided.

Management doesn't have a clue what's going on so you can do whatever you want.

Management doesn't want to do anything that takes effort.  If you point out issues you will be seen as the issue.  It's incredibly toxic amd if you are a hard working indovidule you will be used amd abused while the inadequate are commended.

Working above and beyond the dutiee of my job description to make up for the short comings of other employees

I was employed in Duncan for 5 years. The Parts Department was a complete mess. I cleaned this up, and believe that the Parts Department became the best run in British Columbia. However, without reason, my job position was terminated. No excuse was given, just goodbye and get out of the door. I am not the only Duncan employee to be terminated. Various employees over the past few years that have been local residents are no longer employed here. The majority of staff (check out management) live out of town, and do not understand small town living.
Help support your local dealership, just make sure they are local and not owned by others.

I worked at Toyota Victoria for almost 9 months and am writing this review per my personal experiences. The people are really good to work with and the Service Manager is really great to work for. The Operation Manager has no idea of what he is doing there and just tries to do new things which does not make any sense.  The top management is least bothered about the employees and it is more about the customers. Employee exploitation is also there as they just want to pay the minimum wage even for a highly physical job. They are short-staffed and want to hire people at the basic wage so no one is ready to join them, especially for the roles like Washing attendant and service valet.
