This place is a joke. Management is very unsupportive and they offer no training or courses to improve in your position. They take no responsibility for the part they play in the poor management of staff and the poor training of staff. They will break you down and tell you all the things you are doing wrong but then offer no options or solutions for improvement. I was able to speak to upper management when I left the company and I informed them of many of the issues in their company and told them they needed to speak to all staff and get their opinions of the company. They said they'd look into it and 2 weeks later nothing had changed and they had not spoken to any other staff. Upper management really doesn't care about the front line workers that are keeping their stores open and keeping them in business. They pay very poorly for the expectations and the amount of responsibility they expect you to hold. They offer no training and offer no resolutions to the problems that come up. There are no benefits and no set schedule. You are expected to follow all of their rules and regulations but they play favorites and only reprimand certain employees and keep helping all the not so great employees. They cater to the new generation of ppl who expect everything for nothing and get their feelings hurt by everything a person says and can't come to work because they are having a bad day! Do not expect a write up or the offer of any help for an issue that management says you have no matter how long you have been with the company- expect to be let go with no real reason or explanation and no documentation. Just a phone call at the end of your shift saying your being let go. This is just not a good place to work unless you like being criticized daily but are left with no training or courses to even try to help you meet the grossly high expectations of this company. It's really too bad because this USED TO BE a great place to work. Now the owners and management dont care about anyone or anything except making money. Sad. 

Working at this place through the majority of my 20's, took a while to realize the abuse from upper management and lack of appreciation from the owners. As a store manager, and one that trained all the new staff for years. I rarely had time to focus on actual tasks around the store or maintaining a positive environment for the location staff as the upper management put so much pressure on all of the employees without offering any type of raise. But would create a "new" job title to make them feel like they're one step closer to becoming part of the upper management team which was in fact not the case. This company does not give you actual raises, but instead will give you a commission raise so that your overtime hours were always based off your minimum wage amount, and then your extra maybe $1-2 an hour from commission. The amount of pressure put on floor staff is saddening, and the upper management will come and sit and watch with their clipboard writing down every flaw while not acknowledging the greatness of the workers. For example, 2 sales staff on the floor have a hard time balancing out 8 groups of customers, some customers waiting at the front while the 'upper management' sits at the front counter micro managing instead of getting to work to help out instead, very very negative place to work, and terrible clique vibes coming from the "high" up original staff that feel entitled and act like owners. Also the owners aren't too bad, they don't talk to staff anymore but they are very greedy. But they're kind for the most part besides having to beg for raises and beg for a fair evaluation 

This store had great potential. The biggest issue with this place is the owner.  There is a lack of transparency.  Other stores have a scheduled cannabis order. This store it's when ever the owner decides the store needs one.  Lack of options for customers is going to drive them away. went in recently and they have zero stock. I asked if they are going out of business. Staff have no idea and look worried when discussing it. the opinion is probably but staff are hopeful. that is just sad. I did not buy anything because their selection is so bad. They have no edibles, their pre-rolls I've smoked and nothing is interesting. the whole selection of their products is lack luster. At this point the owner has made so many mistakes. 7 weeks of no debit, no orders. I am surprised they are still in business. Honestly, I would not waste my time applying to this business. (only apply if you don't actually need a job to live) Everything is run from Manitoba. The store manager is the only local representation and the support they get is from Manitoba. it's not like they will hop on a plane to help out. This is a stressful place due to customers snarky comments about the selection and never knowing when an order is coming. 

Where do I start! This place is awful, it started out great the upper management team however have made that job a living nightmare and a constant stress induced headache. You have lead managers who expect things in a store staffed by 2 people to be done that day regardless of if the store is busy or not, you have a training manager who says she's useless when it come to the retail aspect then tries to change everything about the retail part of the store. That same training manager will also clame to not step on other people's departments then go and rearrange the entire store. Their policies don't make any sense, and the best part about working there is you'll be hired to manage the store, but you can't do anything a manager would normally do; you don't get to have interviews with potential employees, you don't get to put up staff recommendations, if you want to change anything about the store you have to beg for permission do to so, when you ask them for help they tell you to ask someone else.

Management is clueless to what actually happens on the sales floor, employees here are not happy and usually using this job as an inbetween for school or work. Progression within the company is totally up to if you're liked or not. Massive amounts of gossip at the workplace and feels like high school cliques. Shift Supervisor is a glorified Sales Associate, they use this to make the job seem more approachable from an outside standpoint. Your actual supervisors have little to no clue as to what happens when you have questions, it consistently has to be brought up the ladder which you will not receive an answer for a couple days. This job is okay, if you are desperately looking for employment however in your first couple of months, I would highly suggest looking for others jobs because the turnover rate and the rate at which they fire people on probation without reason is extreme high, higher then I've seen at any other store. Be cautious and do not indulge with anyone about what you do outside of work as it may be used against you unexpectedly. Expect drama expect clueless supervisors and expect being disliked or even gossiped about.

I absolutely loved all of my coworkers that I worked with. However, the management was absolutely terrible, they don’t care about their staff at all. As a supervisor I was only making five cents more than a regular staff, while doing easily triple the work. Staff walking out mid shift was a regular occurrence due to poor treatment, lack of respect, zero ability to negotiate your wage and next to no ability to move up in the company. When hired you are told that it is absolutely possible to move up, but repeatedly they refused staff and just hired out of company for higher positions. Write ups are a constant occurrence as well, you are forced to sign a paper, even if it is not true. Finally, while dealing with customers you are unable to defend yourself. If you have a customer screaming and swearing at you the only thing you can do is ask them to leave(which does absolutely nothing). Staff have had to come up with ways to alert coworkers that they need help (customers saying inappropriate things, belittling you ect.) and need to leave the situation because there will be repercussions if you defend yourself. 

Cons:
Low morale, extremely high turnover, poor communication, lack of support from management.

Review:
Working at The Joint Cannabis has been incredibly discouraging. Employee morale is consistently low, and the turnover rate is alarmingly high, which speaks volumes about the work environment. Staff are treated as replaceable rather than valued, and there is little concern for employee well-being or long-term retention.

Management is disconnected from day-to-day realities and does not take employee feedback seriously. Policies and expectations change without proper communication, creating unnecessary stress and confusion. Instead of addressing ongoing issues, the company relies on constantly hiring new staff.

If you are looking for a workplace that values its employees, provides support, or fosters a positive culture, this is not the place. The lack of accountability and appreciation makes it a difficult environment to stay in long term.

Advice to Management:
Listen to your staff, address the high turnover, and invest in creating a healthier workplace culture.

Easy enough job with little to no expectations, however the company WILL do everything it can to capitalize on inexperienced workers and driven individuals. They will hype up opportunities for advancement just to take said opportunities away and give them to the least qualified individuals. Any concerns you may have will be met with double speak, lies and misinformation to confuse you and get you to stop inquiring. They will also blame everyone other than the ones who are to blame including but not limited to, the union, other members of management etc. They'll say you are a valuable member of the team and they can't afford to lose you but won't work with you to keep you there. Large emphasis on being a family and doing everything they can to be the most dysfunctional family possible. Most floor level staff are great but majority of lead management and especially the owners are awefull. Cannot recommend not working here enough. Working here will also affect future job opportunities just for showing up on your resume.

Biased management doesn't provide you copy of your employment offer letter even if you asked multiple times because it's sketchy. If you choose this company over other you might loose the job within 2-3 months max and most of the time they fire you without reason or just tell you whatever they feels like. Document everything while you are working there as management is totally biased. Working for this company means your chances of getting hired at any good company is close to none. For international students or workers gets fully exploited by management. They offer you part time position so they don't need to provide any benefits. In order to save money they hire unqualified management so that they can get grant of 5000$ from government and you have to spend 3-4 hours out of your regular hours with the management in order to get right amount of pay. Get pay raise thing and structure in writing as company does lives in their promise.

 typical day at work will involve cleaning up and doing the duties of other staff. The company appears to be well structured when you start, but as you work there longer, you discover that head office has no clue what goes on at a location level and has no intention of learning it as well as has little regard for employees, and will actively put employees in unsafe situations if it saves them doing some paperwork. They also will refuse to give you a copy of your employment contract and claim things are on it that are not.

The hardest part of the job is reporting an issue and a potential solution and not being allowed to do anything about the problem until someone responds (usually 2 weeks to never) with a solution that only procrastinates the problem, creates a health hazard, and is passive aggressive. The best part of the job is learning that you can do less than bear minimum and they'll do nothing about it as long as you show up semi consistently.
