The Learning Enrichment Foundation

My experience working as a supply teacher with the Learning Enrichment Foundation was very disappointing. The locations assigned were often far, and there was absolutely no cooperation or support from the manager. The communication was extremely poor — most shifts were informed barely an hour in advance, making it stressful and difficult to manage.

Supply staff were treated very unfairly. There were many duties that supplies are not supposed to be responsible for, yet we were still expected to do them without question. It often felt like supply teachers had no value or respect in the environment. Even after completing my ECE registration, there was no recognition, growth, or opportunities provided.

The work environment felt toxic, with both management and co-workers showing very little professionalism or support. There was a clear lack of respect toward supply staff, and it became difficult to trust anyone in the workplace. And there is lack of hygiene in most of their childcare centers.

Spent all day either teaching 'dos and windows ' to  people taking an Ontario Works  training course for employment, or  dismantling and building workable computers from systems donated from various sources and in all kinds of condition. co-workers were friendly, but, I found myself alone in the shop more often than not. Really only had any contact with management the day I was hired, and the day I left -they did not get their grant  renewed.
the most challenging part of the job was  testing various components and finding enough parts in good enough working order to assemble a worth-while system.  I rather enjoyed being on my own a lot of the time- it allowed me to relax and listen to music while I worked

At the learning enrichment foundation on a typical day at work i would come in go to my supervisor's office to let him know I've gotten to work and to figure out what i'm going to do for the day. the type of job i was doing there was maintenance assistant so i would help maintain the building i would usually start my maintenance outside first. what i was learning while working at this job was how to use certain maintenance clean machines that i haven't used before which was cool. my supervisor was pretty cool gave us very minimum supervision and when he did he was seeing the tasking being almost finished. i only had about 4 co-workers 3 that actually worked there and the other was just doing the same contract work as me. the hardest part in the job was when after i sprained my ankle i wasn't able to go back to work after that, the most enjoyable time though was going to different places with my supervisor.

The typical day at work, challenging behaviour. Management are very supportive, provide good benefits, family oriented, welcoming and ensure that we have a balance work. The hard part are, managing undiagnose children, multiple children with special needs in 1 room. Sometimes, when partnered with bossy, lazy and noisy co worker. The rest, I had a good experience working at LEF and until now I miss working with them.

When I am not able to support newcomers without official documents

Real open door policy , great management 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Most of the days are busy serving the clients and providing them services

Great place to start and develop your career. This organization has an amazing work culture, they really make you feel like family. There are many vacation/personal leave days but salary is not as competitive. They offset lower salaries with more vacation and personal days. Their performance metric doesn't properly rate you on how much you've grown or learned. It's more about how long you've been working in that role. 


LEF is a big Company who served 18 child care centres and 15 before and after school programs located across the  City of York and in North Etobicoke. I am proud to be their part as a supply teacher I want to become full time employ here but unfortunately they don't any full time opportunity right now.

Overworking time, couldn't finish daily work on time. Could not get support when met any problem at work 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
stressful and pressure and anxiety

this job you have to work in all kinds of weather too, work in hot days, rainy days. we use different kinds of lawn equipment tools for cutting grass and cleaning the flower beds weeding the flower beds. the company is good and my co- workers are great to. we have a lot of contracts in this job working in different places. do a lot of safety training.

A great place to work at because of the privilege to work with diverse population demography, friendly colleagues, offers opportunity for growth and development.
