The Lunch Lady

Working at The Lunch Lady is pretty decent, with an extremely sanitary workplace and a decent manager who is relatively patient when showing you the ropes. These points alone is a pretty solid reason to look in this job's direction, as compared to many other kitchens where their floor is just a mush of meat scraps. However, there are major factors that hold this back from being truly great, which is the pay and location, the pay is lack luster, with only minimum wage to boot, which wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the kitchen's location, which is at a relatively remote place in Sherwood Park, which would cost a sizable portion of both time and fuel (which would be mitigated by a fuel efficient car or actually living in Sherwood instead of Edmonton).

  In conclusion, if you live near or within Sherwood, this is a very nice entry-position job compared to a lot of other places. However, if you live anywhere farther than that, I would suggest trying to find alternatives because the location and pay rate isn't very cost-effective in the end.

Most days I go to work at 8 am, work in the kitchen with out stopping until 10:30 or 11:00 depending on the school I am going to, and then drive to a school to sort and deliver hot lunches to classes of children. I then return to the kitchen, complete other tasks and go home before 2 pm. 
The franchise owner operates his business away from the kitchen and is not usually involved in the daily activities.
My co-workers are primarily mothers, who have chosen this job for its hours and vacations. They are dedicated and hard working. 
The job requires continuous hours of manual labour. 
The kitchen environment is happy, the schools are generally happy and the hours are perfect for me.

I loved my job at Lunch Lady. I started when my kids were young and it was perfect for our family. Having school holidays  and PD days  off was great! My boss is a hard working hands on manager and is understanding and flexible.  I miss working there and only left to persue another position offering more hours now that my kids are grown ( & more expensive!)

Cook, prepare and deliver hot school lunches to kids, the co-workers are very enjoyable to work with, we all work together as a team to get everything done and the attitude is always positive. The kids enjoy their lunches and look forward to seeing the lunch lady at their schools

Back of house is more stressful than front

Support, support and support all the times. All ppl here work hard and play very hard too.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Weekday is most easier than weekend

My typical day consists of making and packing food, and delivering the food to Elementary schools.

I manage the kitchen, make sure everything is going smooth, and make sure the food is fresh and packed right. 

I take care of any email and or phone calls that come in inquiring about our service.

Had a great time working there, days were short and very accommodating for a mother. The owner was very high-strung and caused stress to the employees. The company in itself was a very rewarding buisness to work for and to be a part of. 

I worked here as I needed to find a job where i could drop off and pick up my kids from school. Work is pretty straight forward and hours worked for me. Not a lot of hours though,  some days only 2 hours work and pays minimum wage. Great to get back into the work force. 

good company but could be organized better than what it was. never enough product needed or had way too much. 
they need a bigger space and storage and more people to help out in my opinion so others aren't over worked.
