Assessing children with home work completion and tutoring. Planning events and activities for the children. Being in that environment you learn to be patient and understanding with the children, as well as learning how to communicate with the children. Management was amazing. The staff all had the children's best interest at heart and made it feel more like a home for the children so that everyone feels comfortable. Co-workers were the same, enjoyed being around the children. If you love being with these children and enjoy helping the youth, at no time do you feel any kind of difficulty or really a hard part of the job. The best and most enjoyable moments were the look in the children's eyes when you surprise them with a poppet show or help them complete their home work sooner than expected and now they are able to play.

As a RECE with intensive experience this place was one of the most stressful and poorly managed centre I’ve ever experienced. I had high expectations however poor management. They are extremely fake. They truly don’t support you but act like they do. The people they hire are not professional or even experienced. The company structure in performance review is unrealistic. Extremely high expectations. You feel like you should be a robot working. No training or guidance. No flexibility as an Educator, a lot of strict policies. The George Syme location was extremely terrible to work in. There needs to be new management in charge. They seem clueless. Terrible sense of belonging. 

Implement weekly programs.
•	Offer stimulating activities that promote and enhance physical, social, emotional, language and intellectual development.
•	Respond to the individual needs of children and establish stable and consistent relationships with each child and their families.
•	Ensure health and safety needs of the children are met and dealt with immediately and appropriately should there be any concerns.
•	Ensure safe storage of equipment; maintaining that all equipment is in good working order prior to usage.
•	Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere is maintained by developing appropriate strategies to support children in managing their behaviour.

I worked as an independent home daycare provider under Macauley Child Development Centre. I enjoyed my routine with the children. As a matter of fact, parents of children that were in my care in the past still contact me once in a while to say hello. It is a gratifying feeling. The hardest part of the job of course would be things such as handling temper tantrums etc...The most enjoyable part of the job is to see to kids grow to be more independent each day.

Excellent benefits and 7 hour work days. Plus 15 sick days per year, with 3 float days. You also get 4 weeks paid vacation per year right from the start with a 5th week added after the twelfth year, and a 6th week added after the 15th work year. The management team also provide a yearly staff recognition night, with additional recognition for staff celebrating years worked at 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th year marks.

To much work load,  24 x 7 and  no lieu hours for management position. Managers of Early Learning and Care never train the Supervisor's properly, they have their own hidden agendas. The non management employees are unionized position so they have attitude problems and give hard times to the Supervisors and even the management is scared of the unionized employees. 

I think your experience depends on the location you are placed in. I did not enjoy the Humberwood location. The preschool room and director were awful. Other supply staff and teachers are very kind! However, the Dovercourt location was amazing and I enjoyed every moment there!

I worked for Macaulay for 3 yrs. They are an awesome company to work for and their staff are very professional and friendly. I am sure going to miss them and my kids too

It was an amazing place to work. They prefer to hire students who have placements at the centre for On-Call positions and then you can apply for other positions which will help you move to full time, permanent employee.
