This job is a great start as a first job, teaches many traits and skills that help you develop as a person and adds to you experience. You learn how to deal with time management by working around you job "shift". You also learn work efficiency since you only have about 4 hours to open the 3-4 packages of newspapers and rolling 85 newspapers, and depending on the weather- if it rains you have to put each newspaper in a plastic bag, so that is just the first step, you have to then either walk or get a ride to the neighbour hood and deliver, which consumes many hours. The delivery of newspaper was the hardest part because you had to somehow carry or buy a cart to take the newspaper to each house. The manager was open to a lot of ideas and if there was any issues with lack of supplies she would meet our needs as soon as possible. From all of this i learned how to balance my school/other activities from my job, it was hard at first to adjust but i got the hang of it. I also learned to plan out what to do first and how long im going to do 1 part, so using time management and time efficiency. I learned responsibility, how to satisfy customers and many more.

Working for The Mississauga News as a news carrier was very easy and laid back. The newspapers would be delivered to my home, and I would have to sort them, pack them, and then deliver them to my assigned route. Being a carrier I had allot of freedom and was very independent since I worked at home, but this taught me many skills. I learned how to manage and be responsible with my time. I didn't hesitate to call my boss to inform him or any co-workers about changes in my route, problems or availability issues ahead of time. The hardest part of this job was balancing school and work, and sometimes I would have to work longer hours because I received many more newspapers to deliver than usual. Sometimes the weather was very rough or it got dark outside really fast, but I still had to deliver. The salary wasn't that great either. The most enjoyable part of the job was that I got to work at home under my own terms, and everyone I delivered too was very thankful and nice.

I only worked 3 days a week delivering newspapers around my street. I would have to organize the papers together for about an hour and then deliver for about 1 or 2 hours. Rain or shine you had to do the job. I learned to communicate efficiently with people and acquired great organizational and time management skills. I worked alone. Sometimes it would get in the way of school work, but I managed, although it could be stressful. Also, sometimes people would complain about one thing or another (how the newspapers were given to them) but I just listened and tried to improve. I loved getting some exercise walking around, and loved talking to people. It was a  really enjoyable first time job experience.

Collating and delivering to 80 hours 3 times a week for a couple of years. Lots of flyers, and had to work in all types of weather. I liked how I got a lot of fresh air and exercise but the pay was extremely low (100-120 per a month) and it was a lot of work. It was a good place to start in the job world as they took me on when I was 11 years old. However, management changed around often and I had a few different people as my district representative and I never really knew who my representative was most of the time because of it.

The job was okay. I worked alone at home, got to be the boss yourself. Lots of walking because I had to deliver the newspaper to every house that was assigned. The manager hardly contacted me. When it was raining I had to cover the paper with plastic bags and since there was a big amount of paper it was tiring. The most enjoyable part of the job was you get to go out and have a walk around your neighbor and sometime say hello to people. But the salary was very low so not recommended if you are in need of money.

this was a fun little job for someone that was too young to go into the actual workplace. 
the hours were short enough for young kids to do whatever they wanted after. 
the pay wasn't so great, but it got me the basic necessities i needed at a young age. I would recommend that every child get a paper route to help teach them responsibility.

I have worked for The Mississauga News for over five years. As a youth newspaper carrier, I assemble and deliver newspapers to local residents in a timely, friendly manner. I have not encountered any issues, and my district representative is always happy to assist me when I have any concerns.

I liked the job, but school got in he way the time. I would like to travel across my neighborhood, dropping off the daily newspaper. Sadly I had to quit because because of school work and assignments. But now I'm free to work anywhere near my location part-time.
