I truly enjoyed my work with the News Group, Fort McMurray, AB. I managed the books and magazine sections for Shoppers Drug Mart and Superstore, Fort McMurray, AB.  I managed the inventory and selection of books within this marketplace. I ensured timely delivery and merchandising of the products on the store shelves. I ensured all product was  organized, and shelves were stocked with sufficient stock levels. Books and magazines were placed as per planograms, and all inventory was returned in a timely manner. 

I most enjoyed ordering the book selections, and organizing the magazines to gain the maximum sales potential within this fast and growing marketplace of Fort McMurray, AB.

Flexible schedule. Hard signing in and out  to be paid.  Low wages.  Years of service/effort not recognized.  Mileage not paid.  you must be flexible.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I have never found anything stressful about this job.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Perfect. Working in Shoppers Drug Marts b with wonderful people.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Obtain books and magazines from recieving and put them away in the specific areas, packing up returns.

  I am in charge of merchandising a number of stores within a limited time frame.  I have maintained excellent organizational skills and time management skills with this job.  I work independently, but will consult store managers about special promotions or special placements of products when necessary.

Easy going workplace, most people were nice to work with. Started in credit dept., moved to Stockroom, kept everything in its place and also picked and packed orders. Moved to office environment, and spent 2 years there doing office duties. Then worked on automatic tieline picking orders for all of NL.

The News Group is a good company to work for as it provides flexibility in a person's working schedule.  However, the work itself is very laborous with lots of heavy lifting

Working this magazines in a varietyof stores inclusding grocery and drugs stores. Weekly removal and changing over. Recycling sent make. Quick jobs of 30 mins to 2 hrs per store venue. Not hard work but driving your own vehicle is needed in most cases.

Enjoyed being a part of the team. Great opportunities within the company and excellent pay, also many team building events and free lunches which brings the team closer.

Job security  lots of overtime close to work afternoon or morning shift free magazines,banked overtime calculated lots of holiday general labor position to bid on jobs by seniority


I like my supervisor she is a very nice lady.  The only downfall with this job is that there is no advancement and I only work 6 hours every two weeks.  I don't get paid very much.
