The clients are what keep you here. You develop such an amazing relationships and do hard work, day by day. The 12 hours are so physically exhausting, but the clients steal your heart. The management is not terrible, but you can tell they don’t care for their employees. The pay is not great, it could be much more considering the hours, the overtime you’re expected to work, the short staffing, the specialized care for specific clients, and much more. The management brush you off, barely give you raises or incentives - it’s actually quite sad and discouraging. It’s a job you need to have the heart for. The benefit package is good, you have good teammates and the clients are amazing. 
The hardest part of the job is realizing some clients will eventually pass away, get sick, leave etc. It’s mentally exhausting to see the extent of what they go through medically.  
You learn a lot of medical knowledge from being in charge trained (giving medications) and learning to medically care for specific specialized clients. It does teach you a lot of time management skills, to react quickly and think rationally, and to have organization skills, leadership skills, much more.

As many have stated before the patient are what keep you there. If your looking for work life balance it isn't here, on your days off you have constant calls and texts to pick up shift due to staff burn out and bad Management. When your actually on shift there is a lot of learning opportunity but usually you'll be understaffed and management often knows ahead of time but will wait to the last minute to find cover, if they try to find cover if not you'll be working out of unsafe ratio and constantly having to help co worker who either join but aren't in it for the right reason or are so burned out they don't care about patient care.If you have any Issue good luck trying to talk to management and if you do its unlikely they will do anything even if its a bigger issue of patient neglect and staff safety. You will meet amazing coworker who help you keep you there. Overall its not the company that keeps you there its patient and the amazing co workrer who look out for eachother and the patients.

A unique workplace for a nurse offering a variety of positions and shifts. You get to work a nice rotation between children's and adult respite along with the residential program. You really learn to work as a team with the DSW and PSW staff. As a nurse you get to do a bit of everything here; medications, treatments, assessments, emergency management, teaching UCP's controlled acts, and monitoring. Further opportunities exist for growth too. The staff that work here are very supportive of eachother. Management has a team of diverse backgrounds and skills and the team is innovative and has taken a major leadership role in the developmental services sector. You do feel valued and your input is often sought out. 

Working with both children and adults with disabilities has been incredibly rewarding. Management and in charge staff are all incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share what they know. Clients are incredible and will absolutely steal your heart. Rate of pay isn’t bad but could definitely increase given the demanding work (12 hour shifts, sometimes clients with specialized care), the benefits package is great. The only downside is the reality that these children and adults will pass away, which is incredibly difficult to deal with. However, knowing you’ve made a difference is what matters most.

It's sometimes demanding during weekend days

It used to be better, but for the past couple years it seems to have shifted with management changes and a toxic staff culture filled with bullying and cliques. 
It's fast paced but busy is good.
The clients are what make this job bearable

easy place to work, but you are not valued or listened to. Your opinion or suggestions are often ignored. the pay is not great for what you are required to do. very cliquey, young staff team. lots of energy and great staff, just you are not treated well.

Coworkers and clients/their families are great, and you’ll gain really good knowledge and skills pertaining to a wide range of disabilities. However, expect to continuously work understaffed with a heavy workload. 

Staff are really nice,room for growth. They take pride in individuals with disabilities and make sire to give them quality care. The staff at the Adult location have a great rapport with each other.
