The Real Cdn. Superstore

The Superstore has the be by far the worst job position I have ever held. Night shift is to blame for everything. Although they are given no help. The management is terrible, you will be lucky to meet your managers as an employee there. The managers are very lazy and rarely are seen working. They leave part-time employees alone constantly, then discipline them for not doing good enough. You will never receive a thank you, or even a good job. You will not feel like part of a team or family. I am so glad I am no longer working here, this place is catastrophic, to itself as a business, and to anyone as an employee. Please do yourself the favor and run the other way when this place is hiring. 


Worked here for a year close to two years now as a front end cashier and Superstore is an amazing job if you're looking to build your customer service, gain experience in multitasking, and overall have this as your first job! Being a cashier can be 50/50 on how hard it is or how easy it is. It really depends on the day, and the time! I will say the hours you get aren't the best.. Close to Christmas you'll get 27+ hours and than you're back to 8-12hours per week. And now the management. Most mangers are very kind and generally care for their employers and you'll know which is who. The rest of the mangers can be very rude, not understanding and not caring for you or your needs. 

Power hungry/egotistical management. There’s no work/life balance. They do not care if you have a life outside of them such as school, children, disabilities or underly health issues. They’re unaccommodating. They tend to fire people before they’re unionized if they don’t roll over for management. And the people that are unionized abuse their positions in the company. 

Somehow they are always losing money but can somehow afford to literally throw away 100's of Millions of dollars to install electronic price tags that were never installed.
Theres free lunches from time to time which is nice and the hours are somewhat flexible but they hound you on your break times, constantly are cutting hours butnrefuse to let staff go early when there is nothing to do? 
Dont ever tell them you have nothing to do or they will find some menial task for you to do until your done your shift.

Anytime, early morning, mid day, closing or sometimes graveyard. This its about retail, first, part time @ Photo Electronics then going to a full time to Leisure Dept. I've been to a Bronze and Gold training. Customer Service, Merchandising and Order Management, System Application, How to use RF Gun and the Computer system and a lot more. Well if you enjoy your work there's no way you'll feel the hardest part, just learn how to get along other co-worker and also to the Managers in store.

Overall a great place to work and a mostly nice environment. There is a lack of communication in some areas and we are always understaffed. But the people there are a great bunch to work with. And management is pretty good too.

Although it was a union work place. You worked long stretches between breaks. You really have to work above and beyond your abilities. Always seeking ways to get more done in the same time. At least this is what it was like in the bakery department.


I used to enjoy working at this store but with cut back in hours management expect the same work out of one person as they did when there were 3 of us working.  
Store Manager has been at this  location since opening she needs to be replaced with someone with fresh ideas and someone staff will respect. ☠︎

My typical day at work was mostly doing cash.  I would be called upon occasionally to assist with stock and some cleaning.  Unfortunately, I guess because of the types of positions available, most staff didn't stay around too long.  This store served as a stepping stone for people wanting to move on to better things.

Working here was quite stressful, everything was rushed. Got many customer orders at once and not enough staff to pick all the items within good time, lots of angry customers because of this. Mostly good co-workers.
