The Village of Winston Park

A typical day at work:
I go into work and look at any notes left for me and also look to see what activities i am running that day and plan my day out. After i have all this done I run my programs and enjoy visiting with my residents.

What you learned: 
I have learned how to plan programs, how to facilitate programs, and how to communicate effectively with different types of people. 

Management:
The management team is really good. They will helps us run big events if we are short staffed or need extra hands. They are easy to approach about a problem. 

Co-workers: 
My co-workers and I get along well. When someone needs help a co-worker will stop what they are doing if they can to help. Also all the co-workers are very client centered. We are a closed nit team. 

Hardest Part of Job: 
The hardest part of the job is going into work and (Because i am only part time) finding the half the floor you work on is all new residents that you need to visit that day. 

The best part of the Job:
The best part is getting to visit with the residence. Getting to know some life stories about the people who we are serving.

I worked in activities here for a few months and management treats their employees horribly! The pay is too low for all the work they expect and I never felt welcome. My co-workers had their own group & constantly nitpicked my work even though I have ten years of experience! The residents were lovely but they aren't treated as well as they should be. Managers are cold and rude and don't appreciate their staff. Communication between departments are terrible and I never felt supported or appreciated.

Worked in the food services department as a chef back in 2019. I had a great experience and great support from my managers. The Schlegel philosophy of "aging as a process and experience " is felt in all departments as exceptionally outstanding care is provided to seniors. I enjoyed my experience there, learned lots and I was supported to advance my career.

I enjoyed working at Winston Park. I was impressed wih management style and unique continuum of care with focused dignity. The co- workers are hard working and co-operative. I would love to work in Winston Park.

Poor management and leadership skills
Nurses  do not abide to best practice.
Staff used and abused
Incompetency when it comes to the so - called leaders

I am relaxan with the company with my dementia patient I love them more than anything.team members too and we are all hard working understand each other and with our supervisor.

There is no work-life balance. The expectations of being constantly connected to your job is ridiculous. There is unprofessional and completely in appropriate Leadership. Absolutely no support to help you grow or do better.  No Loyalty to Long term employees.

Management chants the company platitudes. But at the end of the day it all about profit. Staff are used and abused. The most incompetent managers are promoted.

residents are great, staff is great if everyone works together, management needs to focus more on the fact that their staff are humans and not robots & that they do have a life outside of their job. 

Amazing management and atmosphere. I enjoyed every minute working in this Village and would recommend it anyone that is passionate for working with seniors
