While working for Disney is a dream for a lot of people the company itself is still very much a fortune 100 company and capitalism is still at its core. The pay scale/salaries are very poor comparatively. When addressing the lack of wage increases for cost of living HR said “Go work at McDonald’s”. Some employees and Managers do try hard to make it a fun, inclusive environment with appreciated efforts to recognize good work. But too many bad eggs are kept on far too long due to extremely high turnover which is very disheartening for those who take pride in their work. They also work off a Contract system where you are always hired on contract and can get extensions until you may or may not be hired permanently. This causes a lot of stress for employees especially since their contract renewals can often be only days before expiry, making the entire experience barbaric for people who have no idea if in 2-3 days time they will have an income or not. They have the most basic benefits plan for those who do make it permanent hiring status and there is no ability to customize your benefits for your situation which is a very basic offering for an employer so it’s surprising to see Disney does not actually value their employees health enough to offer this. There is also little to no room for advancement and there is a lot of nepotism/favouritism. 

That being said, the perks are absolutely wonderful and working from home is amazing. The job itself is beyond easy and anyone can do it, the training they offer and the support culture is great. They are pretty flexible with scheduling and time off and lenient with sick time. So it’s not absolutely horrible to work there you just have to understand what you are getting into before you start there.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I loved the culture, the work the people.  I was so sorry to leave but their was a loss in the family and I went back to Canada for family support, It was nice to hear that the door was always open if I wanted to return.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I worked at DRC so the having to book a park before arrival was trying.  Happy that is not longer the case. Hurricanes and people panicking that they were going to be kick out of their hotel.  Lots of explaing how to use Genie.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I loved the ability to work from home . And I always enjoyed meeting my new team.  I was a top performer so I got to pick my own scheudle.  I  always enjoyed helping the new people in their role and I got to learn new things from them as well.   I enjoy seeing how they are doing on facebook. I don't agree with 2 days in the office once was enough or 4 day work week 1 day 5 day work week 2 days in office.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
 11:30 am to 9:45 PM   always on the phone with a booking or modification.  I would take breaks when I felt like and always did dinner at 6 PM and not 2:45pm when I am not hungry.   Alway took my call last call at 9;45pm did ACW after a call and fill out the other application before getting to the next call.  In office got their early to say hello to cast mates, make my tea, clean my desk set up equipment and start my day.

The Walt Disney Company in London offers its employers a very disney-esque environment in which workers can indulge in all that is disney:
You will be greeted at the door by Mickey Mouse's face, then proceed to listen to Disney music in the elevator, and finally be welcomed by a variety of disney merchandising spread over all the worker's desks.

The atmosphere is a little tense, as is expected in a company that overlooks 100+ shows on 10+ channels accross 5 continents, but overall people always have a smile on their face, or can count on their peers for help.

The offices are spacious, colourful and any issues related to machinery and IT are usually solved within 2 days.

As a student office assistant, I was trusted with small-ish tasks, but was quickly able to prove to my superiors that I could be trusted with heftier tasks, and it is their trust in my abilities that helped me grow and feel more confident over the course of my internship.

The work you do at Disney is absolutely devoted to the experience someone has from the moment they step in front of the store to the moment they leave - as well as what they bring home. As a fan and someone dedicated to the rich culture that the Walt Disney Company has created over generations, you could imagine the endless possibilities to create a magical experience for our guests: by using Disney language and subtle hints toward the brands guests know and love, you're involving them in a full story. They can be the hero, princess, or anything they imagine because you're creating the connection from product to real life. The managers are so supportive of the growth you have in the company - how involved they can be in the story you're creating at Disney. Yet at the end of the day we still maintain the white glove standard, ensuring that the place that we invite our guests in to is clean and ready for the next day.

I have worked for the Walt Disney company for just over three years, and have enjoyed every moment of it.  The people and management have all been extremely great to work with, and the work environment is very welcoming and enjoyable.  Some days are difficult speaking to angry guests on the phone and via email, however a lot of the time the guests are just looking for help with things and services they don't understand.  There are a lot of extra things the company does to ensure its employees are recognized and appreciated, and management is always as transparent as they can be.  While the salaries at the office could be a bit more competitive, they are sufficient for the work we are asked of.

I enjoyed my time working at Disney. I was a recreation cast member at POFQ at Disney World during my DCP and then went full-time there a few months later. Was there for about two and 1/2 years total. I was furloughed due to COVID. Got called back to work but wasn't happy with my work location and was also being scheduled 60+ hours a week with no wiggle room for less. Had to quit in order to focus on school. I am sure staffing is better now that covid is in the past and they should be fully staffed again. 4/5 leaders I had during my time were great and truly cared for us, all cast members in my department were great for the most part too. Really depends on your work location though. Enjoyed the free park admission and the free education!

A typical day at work for me involved making sure that the store is presentable and appealing to the eye of our guests as well as making each guest remember their disney experience. We do fun events throughout the day so we can interact with our guests and give them a disney experience outside the parks. I learned a lot about the disney culture and how the littlest things can make the biggest impact on people. My co-workers were always friendly and smiling and it gave me a sense of relief to know that I would be walking into such an amazing work place. The best part of my job (aside from it being the disney store) was that I got the opportunity to being surrounded by younger kids whose faces glowed as they entered and left the store and knowing that I made their day and magical one was definitely the best part of working here.

Developed 5 year rolling strategic plans that translated into strong tactical plans that allowed for a balanced approach to local market needs.

Disney allowed for flexibility to develop local product when proven viable as well as adopting North America or Global development.

Relationships with all Canadian major retailers to maximize sales for the Disney brand with Toys, Sporting Goods, and Consumer Electronics was achieved with great assets and the ability to develop customized local trade marketing programs.

A typical day at work is always busy. You have to constantly uphold the happiest place on earth theme whilst simultaneously working under pressure. It's not easy, but it's accomplishable if you're the type of person with that type of patience and motivation such as myself. The managers are trained to make the workplace as enjoyable as possible and try their best to show their appreciation for our work as much as possible. I enjoyed playing a role in displaying that the Walt Disney Company is the happiest place on earth by making families days by being enjoyable.

Working for Disney trains you to excel in the field of customer service, working there was fun, but challenging and management was very flexible and considerate. Working at Disney was also very lively and the workplace culture was very polite and easy-going. The hardest pert of the job was how busy the store could get and working under all of that pressure, but again, it made the work interesting and challenging. This helped in teaching me how to handle such pressure and how to accommodate customer's needs. The most enjoyable aspect of the job was bringing a smile to people's faces and being immersed within Disney's culture.
