Good group of guys working at the stag mill. However, terrible management - everything is your fault and you'll find yourself often thrown under the bus. New employees are not properly trained or given enough guidance/time to learn how to perform their jobs (you are just expected to know everything). This causes poor quality and a slower rate of production. However, the management will then spin it as though the employee is lazy or does not care about the company. That is why there is such a high turn over rate at Teal Jones. Which then means hiring more green guys and then the cycle repeats itself.

No work life balance, when hired was told time off was not a problem. Even though 3 months notice was given time off was always declined or a fight. They pay well, but no job security nor advancement. You will be hired to do one task and one task only, never in my 3 years did i see someone advance to a higher position. Employee turn over is high, management just yells and screams, culture and moral is low. Other employees hate it there and make it well known.

the pay is great for what it is for no schooling needed. The management could be better and could train people properly but don't. Most people are good and encouraging to work with. The lumber industry is inconsistent and you can expect layoffs at some point.  Make sure you save... But when things are good its great. depending on your position you can get lots of OT. 

They really try to make sure you are trained correctly and to Worksafe BC's requirements.
Any thoughts, questions or concerns about anything are immediately addressed that day.
Your foreman's are very empathetic to any serious family happenings.
If you work, hard, be proactive you'll find yourself promoted quickly.

Teal jones group is the second largest employer after R.C.M.P. It is a physical and a team work. each shift has to produce certain board feet of lumber in 8 hours.so, team work is very important.

Great work environment, never had issues with management, supervisors or co-workers. Good training, hard work is rewarded with opportunities to train in various areas of the sawmill.

worked there for a few years the management was completely incompetent. zero safety zero investment in equipment.  the manager literally wondered around getting people to sign safety meetings that we didn’t even have. 

They gave me lots of opportunity to learn new things . The benefits were just ok. The payroll department always made lots of mistakes so you had to check your paystub carefully every time.
