My first job in my new career path was with Thyssen Mining. The continual training, encouragement and educational opportunities were excellent. From the very beginning I felt that the company was invested in me. 

The work environment is second to none with an open line on communication at the site level and head office. There is a strong team approach to getting work done and there was always someone to bounce ideas off of or to clarify a procedure for the second or third time. I appreciated the strong work ethics of my coworkers and the instant rapport at first meeting. Most days of 11 and 12 hours were full on busy yet friendships were bridged in the time it took for a coffee and conversation.

The good times and relationships spilled over to the workers as well. We shared about our families and knew a lot about hard times that others were going through. We respected one another. We were a community. Camp is like that.   

Thyssen Mining and particularly the Safety Manager will always have a special place of respect and appreciation for giving me a hands up into the industry and then for a second opportunity. It was a great family to be a part of.

hardest part- was 2 weeks on 2 weeks off, time away from home, fast thinking, setting priorities and realistic goals for downed equipment, pumps and other electrical equipment.

Working with the VP and some of the original team.

Internal payroll issues with their program

The work environment was good. Culture changed from when I started

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy on the project side of things.

I worked with Thyssen for the past almost 3 years. The contract ended quicker than anticipated due to the effiencies with the maintenance program in which I led. The equipment was always at 80-100% in working order which kept the the development in full gear at all times. The management was inexperienced and not as professional as I have always worked with in the past, but overall a good company.

Mining contracting company where safety is the leading driver of all jobs. Management are very open to discussions regarding safety and provide leadership, support and backing to employees. Always great meeting new people and inducting new hires into the company.

different jobs every day very challenging learned alot about the industry good people to work with always try to enjoy our work even when things are not going smooth hardest part is dealing with unorganized jobs and trying to get the jobs done in a timely manner

From interview to orientation the hiring process was smooth and straight forward. Thyssen supplied PPE, moved my tools and provided flights without a hitch.

Took time to train and improve on job skills and qualifications.
Safety culture was top rate.
Always informed workers on changes in procedures.

a good day at work is when you get your line up and talk about the dangers of the job that the work heading has and how to go about it and what PPE you will need
