Timbercreek Communities is a nice place to work they do a lot for their residents. Buildings are well cared for. Customer service is excellent but there is not much job security. There are frequent staff changes- often they are short staffed and current staff have to cover other sites on top of our own buildings.

The scheduled hours are not too bad but there is more to this job than most people think we often stay late and on salary you work as much as needed. They do offer small bonuses and commission.

There are a number of labor laws that do not apply to Building Managers. Look them up before you decide this is the field for you so you know what to expect.

This is the place for you if you are a real self motivated person ready to work hard.

My husband and I enjoyed working for Timbercreek and we did what we were asked everytime. We worked many months without another team on the large property we were given. We did what we had to do to keep these buildings running efficently for Timbercreek. We changed our days off at the drop of a hat for inspections, etc.
When we decided to leave the company, the regional staff did so much to try and get us to change our minds. But it wasn't enough. Since leaving the company a month and a half ago we have been in constant contact with HR to get the money that is owed to us. Still waiting for the cheque to be mailed!!! I think I am going to be retired long before I see the money this company owes me! I am so glad that we made the change of companies at least the new one treats us much better than this.

I loved this company and the people I worked with, learned a lot about the industry, but ended up clashing with my new manager who made my last few months there unbearable. I did try to work it out with support of others in management but it didn't change. Due to health issues and scheduled vacation, which I was told I couldn't take, I quit. I had vacation scheduled for months with other manager, but as I just had emergency surgery, I was told by new manager that was my vacation and I couldn't take another, she wouldn't approve it. As it was all booked and money was paid, I couldn't cancel. This all happened 2 days before I was due to leave and as I couldn't reach anyone else in management to help me, we quit.

It's not organized, they don't have a proper training program. Management is the worst team and they never made the right calls. There is not a proper system for workplace violence. The only good thing about Timbercreek is that there are some good coworkers in the lower management but upper management does not value employee happiness therefore there is a high turnover rate in the office. There is absolutely no job security seeing as they can dismiss you without reasonable cause. There is a good job culture in place but upper management did not value it in the office.

when you know that you are a leader and someone lead you in a wrong direction and sometimes they want you to fail. remember you are the part of the team and if you know you are a leader stand up your shoes and speak out loud. I've learned more about in office work which i need this paper work process. workplace people respect you and you gave them first. the hardest part is when your leader disrespect in front of other employee and resident or trades. To serve my team a coffee while we are doing our first call meeting.

Working as a building manager has taught me so much! from dealing with, and collecting/depositing rent, and handling multiple  teanant relations on a daily basis. i was responsible for the day to day operations, from dealing with contractors, to tenants, to all the behind the scenes administrative work.
i loved dealing and building long lasting, proffesional relationships with the tenants. Although some can be difficult, its the challenge of dealing with these situations as they come, and resolving un expected issues that makes my day interesting!

If you like working with fake, phony people who stab you in the back then you should definitely apply here! Managers preach about untolerated gossip while they practise the same behind everyone’s back and set people up for failure. Plenty of lies, allegations and favouring lazy ignorant employees who specialize in bootlicking. Go ahead and work the long hours for zero pay and see how much it’s appreciated. Management requires serious training in all aspects.
Run far, far away

This is the place to work to learn because you are expected to know everything to run the business. You should not expect any support from above, and should not expect anyone to cover you, even on vacation or holiday. If you want to learn about finance side of real estate investment, this is a good place to start.

You should not expect any work life balance, if you show up on weekend, you will still see a lot of people.

This was my worst work experience in the residential property management industry. Minimal training, confusing instructions from upper management, no appreciation for your work and efforts, no recognition of your experience or educational background. Their compensation package is a joke. They don't seem to do any better in the West than I see they have done down East.
