The thirty one years of employment at Timmins and District Hospital were satisfying for the most part .Patient care always being of the utmost importance to myself and co-workers was difficult due to lack of staff at times.
I have learned so much with regard to standing strong to the mission of maintaining the best in patient care always!
I have been priveleged to work with an outstanding committed multidisiplinary team.
The most difficult part of the "job"is making sure that each and every patient receives the absolute best care possible regardless of staffing or any other obstacles ie computers.
The most enjoyable part of the "job" was by far the joy brought to each patient a kind word,compassionate care,knowing that families were included and cared for each and every step of the journey.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Clock in, sit down and do your job. Can't bring concerns to management as it's considered complaining. Management set in their ways and doesn't like to hear "no". So many politics. Could use some ethics overview. Smoke and mirrors to make it look good while the CIO collects his cheque and hates his work colleagues by his own admission.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Always on call no matter if you're scheduled to be or not. Management is disinterested in solutions and supports nepotism. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Segregate the team, compartmentalize roles.  Do your friends favors and punish those who aren't yesmen.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Clock in, look forward to the end of the day to clock out officially.  Get bombarded that "everything is priority".  It's not about what's critical, it's WHO is bringing the issue.. This was clearly outlined even during the interview.  "It doesn't matter how big or small the problem is, it's who is complaining".

What is the best part of working at the company?
Not much really. With so many employees the ones actually working (not management) were what made it tolerable.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
To many managers and nothing gets done. Money is bottom line not workers or the patients.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Awful. Obvious nepotism and preferential treatment. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful. Poor work environment old and falling apart.

I worked for this hospital for 19 years. 15 years as an RPN and 4 years as an Emergency/Admitting ward clerk. Working here was my dream as this is what I went to work for. Management was great, professional. My co-workers became friends as we were always together. 
The hardest part of the job was losing patient as I worked with the elderly and palliative. 
The most enjoyable was preparing the patient for the day and seeing smiles on faces.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed my time there.  The staff were all excellent, willing to help and just great to be around,  

There have been many cases of patients and visitors harassing, threatening and even assaulting staff.  Little was done by management in these cases, no matter how well documented the incidents were.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with patients and making a difference in their day.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Feeling that I can’t always help or see everyone in 1 day.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s good and fun working with people that care about the people 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, its fun and I feel that what I do matters.

Since I was a student at this job and there was a lot that I was not qualified to do, it was more of a watch and learn experience. This meant that at times it was a little boring but it was a great learning experience. Nurses were great to me and gave me many medical procedures that I could watch which made it very enjoyable.

Awful workplace environment, staffing is extremely short, pay is little to none, no moral left, and management doesn’t care one bit. We are left to our own devices with things that do not work in order to complete the job, barely able to take breaks, and the union does not care.

This is a great place to learn. Colleagues are fun, knowledgeable and hard-working. Salaries and vacation are good. Benefits are fair.  
This position involves Monday - Friday dayshifts and some Saturday dayshifts. Mostly rotational positions throughout different units that require on-your-feet work. 

I have been here for 8 weeks now finishing up my OTA placement and I really like it here. The hospital is a very friendly work environment and the staff is very helpful through my learning period. I can definitely see myself working in a health setting such as the Timmins and District Hospital.
