Tootsies Shoe Market

During my time at Tootsies Shoe Market, I had a great experience working there. My fellow coworkers were great and my manager was amazing, he listened and understood any concerns I had, I was also working at a second job, which he excelled at making sure I wasn’t too overwhelmed and made working at both places quite effortless, still tired but he made sure his employees were cared for properly. If you are introverted and don’t like to feel overwhelmed or anxious. I highly recommend this store, the location and overall atmosphere, is quite relaxing, inventory days are the only little bit of stress you’ll experience. I will also add, there will be moments that you need to juggle customers (elderly mostly, loving and caring people, my favorite types of customers) but it can get a little busy every now and again. I found it exciting but not every one has that sensation when there’s lots to do. 5 ⭐️ Amazing time there. 

Working at tootsies shoe market was good the first two weeks because I was being taught and everyone was super nice and friendly. That all went down the drain when I noticed nobody was showing me any direction and they were just looking out for themselves I’m talking about the employees. I noticed when I was scheduled a whole week without the manager being their none of the employees were showing or helping me in any way. Looks like they didn’t want me around they would be super helpful when management was around but as soon as they weren’t I basically was trying to figure things out on my own. 

As a buyer of all footwear categories, I learned to analyse and react to the constant change of our retail market place.    Tootsies had a way of predicting change and would be slightly ahead of the curve.  This included shopping trends, fashion, real estate and economical trends that would affect how people shop.

This was a close knit office with great relationships that are still continued today.

The hardest part was leaving this job to pursuit different knowledge in my field and build a career.

The culture was 'get the job done today and do not put it off until tomorrow'.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The discount was the only good part of this job. And the occasional raises

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The amount of work, management, and how busy the store would get.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is okay but not ideal, the company doesn’t have any culture 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Shifting bunks, cleaning, working on shipment, doing online orders, dealing with customers. Following instructions from head office.

I have work for several managers at several locations over the years. All of the managers are great and have very big personalities, and I have never had an issue with them we couldn’t fix. On the other hand the head office is full of a family of idiots who haven’t worked in a retail setting probably ever. Don’t expect to ever move up any corporate ladder, or receive a proper raise. To them you are just a number.

pretty chill managers, but the company itself is a joke. The discount is probably the only thing that keeps the workers here. They’ll hand you keys and tell you to do key work but not even pay you extra hourly or pay you for the extra time you’re staying. Very very cheap company. My coworkers had worked there for over 7 years and not once received a raise. They don’t care about you, but if you want experience and cool coworkers it’s not bad. Store setting is nice, management is horrible.

I put job in quotations in the summary because when you love a job so much, it doesn't feel like work. I go to work and spend time with my co-workers, who are basically family but are also not afraid to give constructive criticism. The higher ups look out for you and reward your successes and the customers are great to deal with. I love this job!

on a normal day i would go through many many mistakes. to ensure that all the product  was  up to management and  customer standards.i would train many individuals and kept a very clean enviroment.

A welcoming and friendly environment. Management is kind, and ready to work with you, not against you. Training is comprehensive, and guidelines and protocols are straightforward. No complaints about my time here.
