Safety culture among technicians is lacking. Management implementing zero solutions to improve culture among employees, even after a mass exodus with all of them outlining similar issues. Management is never held accountable. Corporate is seen as a roadblock and not a resource. One HR rep for 1000 employees. Sinking ship mentality. Zero training or guidance. 

Money is OK. Yearly raises are standard across the board (1-3%) unless you are absolutely exceptional. Zero transparency on salary grades and ranges. Yearly bonuses are fat (20-30% of salary). You work at Toromont for the bonus, not the salary. Great company that is respected globally. Good resume builder. Teaches perseverance - if you can survive at Toromont, you can survive anywhere. Systems are archaic. Zero processes in place, no standardized workflows. No interest from management on implementing them either. 

Most people are nice. If you are helpful, others will also be helpful. Company is built on the backs of relationships. If you can't build relationships you won't succeed - all the knowledge is held by individuals, not documentation, so you need to sus out the information by building your network. Unlimited growth if you're willing to suffer and push yourself. 

Working as a tech for toromont cat is a great experince, there are many opportunities to grow your skills and advance your knowledge. Cat has a massive product line so every day could be an opportunity to work on something new.  The other technicians Working in the shop are supportive, willing to help and easy to work with. 

Toromont has an industry leading safety culture and strives to keep their people safe, coming from other places where safety wasn't as much of a priority this really stood out to me. 

The management team in the shop is made up of people who worked in the trade as well, this makes for a positive enviroment as your boss knows what challenges you are going to face, and allows them to help guide and support you effectively.  Toromont invests in their employees and works with you to identify areas to improve and supportsvyou as you learn. 

It's a busy fast placed enviroment and not a place to come and cut corners, but if you take pride in your work and are willing to work hard you won't have any issues. 

Toromont is a large company so I can’t speak for all departments, but globally the company is very poorly run, full of incompetent employees, and the overall morale is that of pessimism, negativity, and blame. 

This is on all accounts a toxic workplace where you will not be trained properly, you will have a manager that is disconnected and who will throw you under the bus at any chance they get, and where coworkers will humiliate and degrade you. 

You will be given a workload that is almost impossible to handle, you will work in silos where no support is available to you, and you will be micromanaged and critiqued along the way. Made an honest mistake? Get ready to have people verbally raise their voice, yell and insult you in front of others.  

This is the only company I’ve ever worked at where all the previous employees in the role before me had taken a mental health leave prior to quitting. If that doesn’t say enough about this company, I don’t know what does. 

Save your self-respect and your mental health and do not work here. 



My typical day at Toromont, was amazing,stressful and satisfying. I have learnt an enormous mount of skills working at Toromont, phone skills, warehouse production on a full scale and a lot of life lesson as well, such as time management and  organization skills and appreciating others. Management was great at Toromont, but also very sneaky as well,but overall substantial. my co-workers were the best to work with, some times it was hard at first when new faces arrived but once they were taught how to do the job it was very easy flowing. the hardest part of the job was working under someone who would set you back two steps instead of pushing work flow towards more productive manners. the most enjoyable part of the job was working at a pace that was suitable to me and making progress throughout the day to make sure tomorrow was easier for morning flow.

Work environment can be toxic most times. There are some techs/staff members that are just really good people and easy to get along with but there are also some that will throw you under the bus to make themselves look good. Certain people in management are not very honest  or trustworthy, and HR seems to have managements best interest in mind not so much for the employees.Definitely a place where any sort of agreement needs to be on paper or in an email as verbal ones don't seem to have any meaning or value and are not likely to be honored. Certain managers change the rules and make up new ones as they go. This company also has a hard time keeping staff new and old, I have seen a lot of people leave not so many filling the positions. They like to put the onus on the techs as much as possible for everything they can but limit the resources available to do the job at the same time. So nobody wins staff or customer. It is very hard to find any motivation or stay positive most days.

There is opportunity to learn but its sinknor swim.  The managers are the most challenging part.  They lack proper training and are not experienced with equipment at the Baffinland site. Store 18 managers are difficult to work for as they don't get along with each other. It causes a stressful place to work. The other issues is your constantly changing protocol so it makes it even more challenging.  Huge turn over rate at store 18.   The store 90 guys have a way better gig and are supported by good managers and leadership.   Store 18 lacks the professional cut above the rest mentality you should expect from a cat dealer.   Store 18 is referred to as the penalty box for the cat employees.   Get in make a wage for a few rotations and get out before they turn you for the worse.   If you're fortunate to get on with store 90 do it.  You will never need to switch companies and you will be supported 

Working at Toromont is very enjoyable. My team and the other members of the HR department are filled with talented and collaborative individuals who foster a productive and supportive environment. Management is approachable, supportive, and always open to feedback. They are very easy to work with. 

The benefits are excellent and I truly feel valued as an employee. The fact that many employees retire from Toromont is a great sign for me that it is a very stable place to work in. 

I also appreciate that the work I do is both meaningful and mentally engaging. The projects are challenging and helping me fine tune my analytical skills.

Overall, a well structured organization that cultivates both professional and personal development. I'm grateful to be part of such a great workplace.

my location is remote and is a 3-week rotation, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, then off for 3 weeks

As a warehouse associate, the opportunity to learn and grow your knowledge and skillset is abundant in the logistic industry. I've witnessed a handful of people get promotions during my short time here (some of them started after myself). Since there has been a change in management, it seems as though the voice of the warehouse team members are being heard more. There is a disparity in opinions over the workplace demands but as far as I've seen, as long as attendance is kept in good standing and you manage to keep working when it's time to work, then no supervisor will push you harder than you can handle.

Work life balance, good pay, pension and employer/employee matched investments, good shop atmosphere, upper management could use some work, but the shop is a good spot to be

Nothing really, not a lot of pressure from supervisors. Management is pretty hands off on the shop techs, so there’s pros and cons to that. Overall very low stress

Great, good atmosphere, good camaraderie, employer paid outings, safety culture is good, however a little unrealistic at times

Show up to work, have our daily safety talk/meeting, start our day. Paid Breaks throughout the day and non-paid lunch
