Typical work day: most departments start 1.5-3 hours before gates open to prepare for fans. This part is incredibly dreadful. Also, be expected to work night shifts for a week straight when the jays are here.

Management: It seems to get worse every year 
 I've been here. Every department is mostly run by millennials who lack communication between other departments + higher bosses. They also make it blatantly obvious who their favourite employees are and won't give others a chance to prove themselves. They also care more about money before the importance / well-being of their employees...as expected from Rogers.

Workplace culture:
Co-workers are probably what save this job from being terrible. For the most part my shifts are always enjoyable. Besides that, you're constantly expected to perform with every grain in your body, no matter how slow/dead it is or how busy and drained you may be. You'll also be expected to train new staff since they don't do it. 

Advancement:
unless you're a managers absolute favourite, theres no opportunities to advance. you can work as hard as you can and go un-noticed.

Benefits:
other than having sports industry experience, theres nothing you really get back/gain from here. You cant look at the game, concerts, take pictures, etc. You will work like a dog and get nothing in return. 

Working with the Toronto Blue Jays has been a rewarding experience overall. The organization maintains a fast-paced and energetic environment, especially during game days, which makes every shift engaging and dynamic. The team culture is supportive, and colleagues are generally helpful and easy to work with, creating a positive atmosphere on-site.

One of the biggest advantages is the opportunity to be part of a well-known professional sports organization. The experience helps build strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with large crowds and ensuring smooth operations. Management is organized and provides clear instructions, particularly during events where coordination is critical.

However, the role can be physically demanding at times, with long hours on your feet and working in high-pressure situations during peak events. Scheduling can also vary depending on game days and events, which may not always provide consistency.

Overall, it is a great place to gain experience, develop interpersonal skills, and be part of an exciting sports environment. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a dynamic workplace with opportunities to grow in customer service and event operations.

A typical day consisted of being dressed and ready for a staff meeting 45 minutes before the gates opened and showing the guests to their seats and helping with any concerns or questions they may have as well as helping out my fellow co-workers. As I am retired, the hours and season length suited me. 

I learnt how different people really are and if you treat people with respect the majority of incidents can be handled calmly.

Management was fine.  The Supervisors could be a challenge on occasion but usually concerns got worked out.

My co-workers consisted of very young people to people in my age group.  The young people for the most part were good at taking advice and liked doing their job. I enjoyed my co-workers.

The hardest part of the job was dealing with unreasonable fans who no matter how you tried to appease them it just wasn't good enough.

The most enjoyable part was all the staff who worked at Rogers Centre from the fans to my co-workers to the vendors to the maintenance staff.

I love working security for the BlueJays, I liked that everyday was a different day and i've always learned something new and experience something new. I've picked up a lot of different customer service skills along with more other advanced skills. Depending on the day ( weekday vs weekend) the fan atmosphere was completely different . It would be more clam during the week verses the weekend or even a Friday night it would be a little more crazy and I would deal with a lot people consuming too much alcohol ect. The hardest part of the job I would say is dealing with intoxicated fans that would just look down on me. I've been in situations like this many times where I've grown from it and learned a lot from it and how to deal with it in different ways.  The best part of my job was the people I worked with along with my experience I have lived threw this job.

I am going into my second season.

I loved my first season, even though there were a lot of challenges (mainly due to Accessibility issues) it was a great experience & the management team is extremely helpful, especially the direct supervisors.

The atmosphere is pretty awesome, coworkers are a great team & if you have problems, security staff are extremely knowledgeable & helpful.

Most fans are great, sometimes there were abusive ones, but security staff & supervisors were amazing.

The Blue Jays commitment to hiring people with multiple disabilities, is something that is very rare in this day & age, they are really trying to learn & support people with disabilities.

I really appreciate the opportunity to work for the team I have cheered for, for 40yrs.

If you like a fast paced environment, great perks, great coworkers & a very enjoyable experience, I highly recommend you apply.

Pro's:
- Not minimum pay
- 40-45 hours per week during MLB season. During long home stands, you're asked to work 8-12 hours.
- Tickets to Blue Jays games
- Other discounts/perks for being a Rogers and Blue Jays employee around the stadium
- Friendly/approachable coworkers. If you're a young adult or in college, you'll probably fit in

Con's:
- Hard to find shifts during offseason (15-25 hours if they like you)
- Management issues (schedules are late, little transparency and communication between management and staff, little sympathy shown)
- Not enough of a sports environment (TV's are on but they only show baseball during Blue Jays games)
- Very hectic during home games if you can't handle crowds


Conclusion:
Awesome summer job, but try to leave by the time it's offseason... If you stay, you'll soon find out how irritating the management team is.

Working security for the Toronto Blue Jays is a challenging, fast-paced, and exciting job. The work environment is fun and the management is fantastic. The job can be challenging at times when customers get angry or disagree with the rules, however you can always count on your coworkers or supervisors, or surrounding police officers to back you up. They offer great perks and other security staff are friendly and welcoming. 

The hardest part of the job is handling customers who have had too much to drink without getting frustrated, but the training they provide helps prepare you for those instances.

Overall, it's a fun place to work, there's room for growth, and you can count on your coworkers to have your back.

A typical day would be opening the doors and wait for all the fans to come in. And all surpise visitors can be any body from paul simone to anne murray to raptor players. And the best would be our lumni that won us the world series back to back. Joe Carter, Robbie Alomar, Kelly Gruber, Devon White .Cito Gaston, I can go on but I would need acouple of days. I also met Jay Z and Justin Timmberlake working with the rogers center aswell. I think the hardest part is when the boys want to go home and we have fans that wait for autograghs at gate 9 were I have been for 5 years. They wont leave or believe that they won't be coming out that way that night.

Pay your employees more. Retail workers are slaved while working for 14.25 an hour. Billion dollar organization paying their employees the bare minimum. Imagine paying your retail workers minimum to do above and beyond the requirements and job. Imagine getting paid 14.25 to do work that you never even signed up for in the contract agreement. Do you really want to work here. Sell 10k plus worth of merch per day and get paid under $100 a day. A jersey costs 149.99 or 189.99. Yet we cant even afford to make as much as a jersey in a day.
