This organization talks a lot about fighting oppression, but in reality, it perpetuates many of the same harmful dynamics it claims to challenge. There is little to no guidance or support, and unless you're part of an inner clique, don't expect to grow or be recognized for your contributions.

Upper management is virtually absent, and decision-making often feels arbitrary and rooted in favoritism. Volunteers — particularly those from marginalized communities — are heavily relied upon but rarely given opportunities to advance into paid roles. It’s disheartening to see how often marginalized folks are tokenized rather than genuinely supported or uplifted.

The environment is cliquey and gossipy, with a culture that feels more like high school than a professional, healing-centered organization. Sadly, the people in charge often lack the wisdom and capacity to do the healing work they promote.

If you're looking for a space rooted in true equity, support, and integrity, this may not be it.

TRCC/MWAR is a grassroots, women-run collective working towards a violence-free world by providing anti-oppressive, feminist peer support to survivors of sexual violence through support, education, and activism.

Volunteers are an integral part of the daily functioning of the TRCC/MWAR. As an unpaid staff, we are still the heartbeat of the organization. Volunteering at TRCC/MWAR is a wonderful way to have fun, make friends, learn, augment skills and give back. You will have the opportunity to touch a life, engage in community building and advocacy, gain critical analysis skills and make a difference in your life.  This is a life-changing opportunity for many. 

Great place to work. It is fast paced which helps makes the shifts go by quickly. The most enjoyable part of this job for me is the great group of people that you work with every day and also the work benefits are very good.

You would think TRCC would show more appreciation toward their volunteers than they do. if it wasn't for their volunteers their crisis lines wouldn't be running the way it is. 
Management needs to have a little more gratitude. 
And for the EBU's if someone doesn't like their job or feels the need to complain about attending to a call, they should honestly reconsider taking a step down from their role.

sadly most management is not so caring and they will push you out if you stand up for yourself and refuse to be "bullied" - If you're a hard-working "yes ma'am" kind of person you WILL be taken advantage of, and will constantly have extra duties added to your workload. 

For a place that has a deep focus on mental health with supporting survivors they are less than respectful or kind when it comes to their employees mental health.

I've been working for TRCC for 6 years. It has taken me this long to realize how terrible this company is. They do not care about their employees. They would rather replace you than support you. Good job to get experience but that is it. I would not recommend anyone to look at this company as a future long-term employer. Upper management is pathetic.


Management is horrible, the very cliquish company overall! Everyone gossips and constantly causes disruptions throughout. There is no clear understanding of what most crisis positions are there to do. People are mistreated if they aren't a part of the clique—some great staff Specific management is worse —no job security. No growth is available at this place either.



This company is flat out unprofessional, poorly run, and played off favoritism and hierarchy. The management has pretty poor attitude, not a good place to work. even though there is a lot of negativity in this company, there is a good group of staff that honestly try to do what they can for the callers but the hearts aren't good enough to overtake the management.



Difficult environment, high expectations & poor upper management, alarming overturn and burnout. Toxic environment. If you’re looking for support/appreciation this isn’t the workplace



You’re overworked, understaffed, micromanaged, under-appreciated, and there is a lot of politics. management does not care about employee’s . The only good thing is that you get to learn a lot and gain valuable work experience.


Really, it’s a toxic work environment. Selective communication between management 

I picked up and covered extra shifts only to be rewarded with a email stating you can’t come back for 1 & half months. 
For these reasons I cannot recommend working here.
