What is the best part of working at the company?
Through my 8 years of hands-on experience, I have developed clinical expertise and in-depth knowledge working at the company.
  I gained confidence in being highly skilled in developing and managing nursing care plans for patients of all ages, teaching patients and serving individuals and groups to maintain their health. Furthermore,  I learned how to create a therapeutic environment while identifying and treating individual responses to health problems.  Attending active in-service training and seminars could enhance my skills and knowledge to help deliver optimum health care to patients.  Through my work experiences, I am proud and confident that I can work under a high-stress atmosphere with minimum supervision and other related duties as assigned. 


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Stress is a big part of the job. Some people can handle it better than others. I’ve never had a problem with stress  For several years, I  gradually learned and adjusted my type of work. When working in the correctional as a registered nurse,  safety is the priority.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Our system is well organized, especially for safety precautions when dealing with inmates.

I have progressed through a series of promotions, culminating in responsibility for the coordination of 11 living units with 320 male adult offenders in my care, custody, and supervision. Supervise a team of 30 correctional officers, case managers, group facilitators and direct-care staff. Develop and maintain strong community alliances with variety of departments such as Health care unit, programs, education, and court services.  In-addition, I have the means to provide strategic direction, establishing priorities and developing and implementing policy and programs

While the Toronto South is a great place to work with womderful benefits it doesn’t come without its issues . With staffing issues there which can leave people alone for extended periods of time . As of late we have had issues with staff that has been hired while being grossly incompetent for the job . Everything else is run well it is simply a high stress environment .

The most enjoyable part of the job is helping visitors see their loved ones

Management doesn't appreciate your efforts or hard work 
Pay system is designed to underpay you

Can be dangerous, minimal concern from employer regarding staff safety and security. There are positive aspects, may be able to positively affect some inmates in custody. Policies and procedures limit staff options for engagement.

Good place to get paid and gain frontline experience. If you can fight through the negativity and the culture, you can survive. Good to take on other projects to stay engaged.

TSDC was a challenging and rewarding work experience.  I acquired the ability to deal with a variety of people from different walks of life, backgrounds and different ethnic and racial groups.

Do.  Not. Work. Here.  Jails in general are hard enough to work at but TSDC is absolutely awful in every way. Constant assaults and harassment from inmates and they have minimal to no consequences

Different type of job, learn alot and good way to get into other law enforcement opportunities , Room for advancement and excellent training. Good co-workers

Great place to learn on all fields in life and you will be ready for any career for the future, whether it will be policing, firefighting, EMS or social work
