Toronto-Symphony-Orchestra

General duties include taking inbound calls and processing subscription and single ticket sales, ticket exchanges, donations, and resolving conflicts. Part of the job involves working at Roy Thomson Hall before concerts start, so evening and weekend shifts are common, ranging from 1.5 to 3 hours. The managers are incredibly supportive, you will make friends with your co-workers, and staff from other departments are friendly and helpful. The hardest part of the job is dealing with angry or upset patrons, and the ticketing software has a steep learning curve. 
It is the ideal place to work, but the pay rate for part time staff is not great and it is difficult to get a full time position, since not many positions open up. You also don't have many opportunities to learn new skills once you have mastered your role and the work becomes very repetitive (you will answer the same types of questions every day).

an external relations and business development position, personally and professional challenging.  A multi-faceted role including government and stakeholder relations, corporate partnerships, organizational change and development, and venue relations and negotiations/relationship management.

Worked here over 4 years and 14 shows performing with my Arts school during their holiday show season. It was so much fun being under the baton of Steven Reineke as well as  partaking in music with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Working with the Toronto Symphony has been a joy and a privilege, working with great artists and providing challenging and creative musical programs to the Toronto community.

The TSO is one of our country's cultural institutions and deserves to be one. They present concerts of the highest calibre, with internationally renowned artists each year.

Very fun environment to work. All people co-operate and everyone is very much understanding. I learned how to talk to people on call and how to manage the time.
