Excellent working environment where I met and dealt with environmental, regulatory, safety and sustainable development matters.  Specially enjoyed working with First Nations representatives from Northern Alberta. Provided logistic support for negotiation retreats with First Nations groups offsite.

Organized a few team building retreats. Highly gratifying.

Falling oil prices had an unfortunate bad consequence for the Canadian affiliate which started downsizing staff quite significantly last year and has continued throughout 2015 to date.

Excellent training programs both personal and professional.
Initially high level of Total staff from France, this was a nice change as Total has very good and continuously updated set of engineering standards. Culture of project team changed towards latter part of the project and this resulted in project design issues that were unnecessary and costly.

The global leader in micro-management and hierarchy. Not much focus on operational issues or safety culture - only focus is IRR!

Total SA has decided to reduce Canadian affiliate (Total E&P Canada) by 80%. Well - not even a single French national has lost their job and all lay-offs are from Canadian employees. In fact they acknowledge, if you are an employee of Total SA, then you can't be laid-of (apparently French rile doesn't allow laying off employees). 

Well- they still claim to be Equal Opportunity Employer at Canada - thanks to loop-hole of Canadian company law!

I joined the team as a SAP Consultant working on a project, with heavy collaboration with the team located in France. This required quite a bit of coordination, due to the time difference of 6-7 hours. However, the team was extremely professional, flexible, incorporated a great level of organized communication, & made the project success an attainable and fun experience.

very good organized company with good benefit and work/life balance for their employees, system oriented structure, with a lot of focus on health and safety of people and also environment. still lots of meeting and sometimes circle in decision making caused slowing down the project progress.

A great place to work, there are people from all over the world working in this company. The upper management is approachable and looking out for their employees.

I work for a great team, lots of open communication and a fun atmosphere. I look forward everyday to going to work.

Salaries and benefits are very good.  Opportunities to move around the globe to other job sites are also good.  Enjoyed my work experience.  Biggest downside was cultural divide between French and Canadian way of doing business.

Like the culture of the company: detail oriented and a lot of in depth research project. Nice people around and employees are very well treated.

International exposure and every changing fast pace organization. Very focused on safety which was key. Many international opportunities and the Company invested in their employee's
